thanks for the mod. Haven't used Joao but ran into some bugs with Maria. Between wonders and the events and decisions I had 12 trade slots but the number said 13/12 as though i had one extra. Also the rise to power was having some issuew with it. At some point i noticed my piety way low and and not rising. I was supposed to get more with population growth. But I don't think it was working. Then I checked the religion menu and it only indicated some civs having official religons but it was a fraction of those that should have had one. And it didn't even list the ones that didn't have one has having "none". They just weren't listed on the menu.

about the winery: when you say it adds a source of wine near the city, does that mean it literally adds a wine resource to a specific tile, or does it just make the city generate it passively.

I'm wondering because if it adds it to the tile passively, it could make maria a very good civ for cultural victories. Get a religion with monasteries, and make wine tiles into sources of tourism. The amount of happiness you will get from all the luxuries and from your UA will result in a massive happiness level- that can be poured into order tenets for a nice large boost to tourism. The cacador can eliminate any cultured civs that get in your way.

Portugal Brazil: great civilization. Use this with BlouBlou's Industrial era mod and dominate with caçadores. They are a much better alternative than the gattling gun.

Joao! You've come back from Civ 4!

You're supposed to settle cities with Maria in the mid-late game, not early on; that's the point of moving your capital to another continent, where your new cities should be. The strategy for her is to play tall in the early game and have your capital grow, then go wide in the late game and switch your capital to a new city, which will grow much faster due to the size of your previous capital.

And I'm not going to make her naval based, that's like João's entire thing (Which, btw, is not diplomatic. His kit is designed around you not having to be allied to city states to gain bonuses from them and that you should instead spend the gold you usually would waste in them to purchase buildings).

Can you make Maria more navel based please? I really love the abillity you gave her. I also love how Joao has a nice Diplomatic kit. But there's not much synergy with settling a ton of cites and not getting extra luxuries till the Late-Mid game. I think she could work well with a harbor replacement that gives +2 embark movment to units made by the city to be a true maritime colonizer. Just an idea. Love your work and keep it up :D

@Opium - the colour schemes are my doing and I will stand by them as they are. The blue-white scheme for Maria is justified by the flag of Portugal in the first half of 19th century that was white and blue. Joao got the green-blue scheme to reference both the colonial-era Brazil, the modern Portuguese colours, and the colours of Portugal in Civ 4.

Anyway, thank you very much for this!

I feel you should switch the colors of D. João II to the ones D. Maria I has - and vice versa -, as green is more associated with Brazil in the game. (And yep, even if it isn't that important, I would actually prefer to use D. João II while *using* the traditional blue/scheme, hehe.)
