Personally, I don't even use this mod anymore, I use Dying Light common infected sounds, which I've never had audio issues with. This one still tended to have minor static for me unless I take the raw files from this mod and manually replace the Left 4 Dead sound files, which I don't advise.
Considering the thousands of current subscribers and favorites, I have to assume this works properly for at least some people and I don't wanna just take it down.
In short; my recommendation is the (FIXED) version of the Dying Light common infected sound mod instead of this. It's more up-to-date, the audiocache commands seem to work for it much more consistently and the sounds are, in my opinion, significantly better.
This is the best sound mod for the commons out there, also it has to be said most sound mods are either hit or miss during instalation, if a problem persists either remove and reinstall or just do the snd_rebuildsoundcachethingy that it fixes 99% of the problems.
I would recommend this one
You can also do "snd_rebuildaudiocache" which takes longer, and will make your PC seem as if it is frozen for a good, long while as it works, but it's also far more thorough than simply updating the audio cache.
Beyond that, I'm sorry I can't help you further.
I haven't changed anything with this mod, and I won't be updating it, but it still works fine for me. I'm sorry I can't be of more aid, but I'm not a modder. All I did was reupload this, as the original author took it down a few years ago.
