I personally also feel that Lucubrations Infantry Class is a bit unbalanced right off the bat and so I really do not recommend using that in this collection.
Otherwise, 14 missions in, I feel it's OK so far.
You should use notoriety instead as they is less punishing for low level troops. I am sort of holding out for a re-imagining of fatigue with stat loss risks.
If you start with 6 soldiers going up to 8 you can get away with IESS+ and even add a nice pip of armour to all advent troops and MECs (not stun lancers because f*ck them). I am running this set up in my current play through.
This all works together with cover bonus and DR to give more extended firefights, rather than alpha strikes as the only way to succeed. Mission timers might get a bit tight, and as weapon damage scales up l suspect it might tip away from early game balance.
- Additional Mission Types (to roll the new missino types as 3rd and 4th missions have a high ironman campaing ending possibility)
- Fatigue (This can make first missions very tough)
- Increased Enemy Squad Size (I recon this will be good when you get to end game 6+ squad size)
