i like these, simplistic and clean. Ccould use 5x1x1/10x1x1 versions to safe up PCU, make them at the same time usable as conveyors, add all the necessary T/X/L/... shapes and an armored version, give them a fitting airtight connection door like these

and a version of those then that double down as connectors.

If one really wanna get fance, forcfield wall sections that let you repair stuff behind and you got a perfect jeefries tube

old mod, hope if it doesnt get fixed my creator soemone pick it up and fizes it.... why your at it mind fixing the 2003 year old issue where air wont excape through the gaping hole? bit cheatsy (still made my ships with airlocks behind this merge incase of patch).

I've been notcing this block doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm in a single player sandbox world, and tried docking a large ship to a station with this same merger block. I tried multiple times, it won't connect. Was there an issue from the last patch that now makes this no longer work?

This doesn't appear to be working any more; this block won't connect to another block of the same type. If a regular merge block is added to one side of this block trying to match up with the same,the merge blocks disconnect but then this block remains connected to the corresponding block.

Excellent mod and works fine for me in SP / survival world in private mode alongside a bunch of other mods. What I would like to see, if possible is a) for the block to only be airtight when merged with another boarding tube or similar; b) a hatch integrated with the block to allow the boarding tube to be 'sealed' for purpose of maintaining pressure during flight, security against boarders etc.

Massive thanks to moderncolin for taking the time to make this mod and keep up the good work! :steamhappy:

same issue here, removed from server i play on cause it doesn't work, if the issue gets fixed we may put it back on

I can't get them to merge together without using a set of dedicated merge blocks next to each tube piece, but I can remove those once merged and the tubes stay connected.... bug?

heyi noticed a bug, the merg block itslef as no modpoints on the back which is a bit of a problem. but not much.

great mod shoud be vanilla

Hi Clay ..Thats strange ..It does not have any custom script in .It only has the default merge block definition. Does the vanilla merge block crash on dissconect.?

@soultechnology - that's a limit of the game engine. blocks can either contain air or not, and this one does not.

@moderncolin Is it possible to add an animation to this block, not a player activated animation, one that starts when the block is merged or unmerged?

My idea is, you could put an iris opening on each side that stays closed until you merge it with another block. Once merged it would "play" the opening animation, once unmerged it would "play" the closing animation. Not sure if this is possible, but if possible it could be used as a simple way to get around the whole, you can't have a door and a merge block on the same block, thing.

Excellent creation by the way, definitely a must have immersion mod for me.

BUG:
while it IS airtight on the sides... it seems ot also be airtight through the hole withought antying ebing connected? is it possible to make the tightnes work properly?

EG: if i have one of these as the nony hole int he room, the room iwll fill with air properly with no leaks. (when it should vent unless i cover this hole or merge this with something that is also airtight)

So could you just make a block that can be placed on on the connection point that works as the door ? Like how you can have a connector covered with a window and still transfer items between the two

ok I got it.. lt's not as agreesive as a normal merge block and it does work.. however small block onto a large block.. and small to small, doesn't work..

Hi Guy's try this .. Line it up to where there nearly touching and then press C and go down very slow ... and it should pull you back up and connect ...

So, it seems this mod is broken. I spent roughly half and hour trying to align the ship and station and they would not lock. Anyone got a solution?

@toad priest it means Levels of Detail, or that when you are far away it displays a more basic (and less graphical resource intensive) model for better performance.

So I love the idea of these but you have a common problem here. Make sure to set "isairtight" to FALSE. Once this is done ensure that the placement grid on the two open sides is a series of thin lines that obstruct the central tunnel as little as possible. 4 thin strips, one per edge, should do nicely. The game will then pass oxygen down your tunnels rather than blocking its passage as it does now. Side note, a more distinctive method or marking what end needs to be merged with and what end should be in the ship would be really helpful.

If you have any trouble getting the tunnels to work with oxygen or setting this up please let me know and I can get you some amended data files to get it done.
