You can't. The ROM for SEGA MD&G Classics doesn't include SRAM compatibility, so it's permanently disabled. Saving states in this player is broken for mods too. If you want to save your game, you'll have to play on a different emulator like Kega Fusion or RetroArch.

Is there any way to save by save state? When I enter the game's menu, it says that the save is disabled because the SRAM is not detected. How do I configure this?

As Ikaruga said, this currently does not support normal saves. You will need another emulator for that.

Either use the quicksave feature or another emulator.

Great hack, was fun to play using Knuckles chaotic rings.

It's much harder to mod Sonic 3 / & Knuckles / 3&K than Sonic 1 and 2

@gdog1098 You can't. I keep saying this. Steam Will NOT let you make any kind of save - and that includes save states. The only way to make save states for Sonic 2 is by playing the vanilla game - if you want to save in ANY way shape or form for Sonic Classic Heroes, you need to use another emulator.

@Ikaruga Yes. The ones I am most familiar with are Kega Fusion and RetroArch - both are compatible, but Kega Fusion lets you make save states. RetroArch, however, plays more smoothly and has fewer compatibility issues.

Unfortunately, the issue is the lowest of priorities. If someone in the community won't take the time to analyze and fix it, then it's not worth playing on Steam. Again, and I will reiterate this as many times as needed, you're better off playing this on a proper emulator or hacked console/handheld device. Unless you don't mind the arcade style All or Nothing.

It kinda sucks that Sega still hasn't fixed the issue since.

@gdog1098 I should have clarified - STEAM WILL NOT SAVE DATA WHATSOEVER. There is a bug that prevents Steam from letting you make save states in the emulator. So, you cannot save your progress in any way, shape or form. For all intents and purposes, it operates like the original Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 - complete the game in one sitting, or start over from the beginning. If you want to save your progress, use an emulator like Kega or find a way to put the mod on a console such as 3DS, Wii, Switch, PS3, etc.

Reminder to all newbies here - THE STEAM VERSION DOES NOT SUPPORT NATIVE SAVING! If you want to save your game, you will need to play this with an actual SEGA Genesis emulator like Kega Fusion or RetroArch. The Steam version will not let you save your game progress - think of it as an arcade version of the hack.

I really like how you can just choose Sonic alone and still have a great hack.

Could you possibly make a team hyper code? I know you can hit the super box with all emeralds to become hyper, but it doesn't last long. also, how can i configure my emulator to save?

I doubt it. flamewing has vanished for good. You'll have to look at other hacks if you want more Heroes style gameplay in classic games.

can someone reupload sonic 2 heroes to the workshop? i got sonic 2 for free because its free until oct 19 and i dont have sonic 1 but i remember using this mod on my android emulator, i really want to play this on pc but i only have sonic 2
