Had to do some head scratching first though haha
There are 12 key cubes to choose from for the first energy cube - place one.
There are 11 remaining key cubes available - place an energy cube.
There are 10 remaining key cubes for the last energy cube.
You multiply 12 x 11 x 10 = 1320 to get the number of possible combinations.
With a 3 cube door, you have 3 energy cubes and 3 key cubes. Place an energy cube.
There are 2 key cubes left; place a cube.
There is one key left; place the last cube.
You multiply 3 x 2 x 1 = 6 to get the number of possible combinations that will open the door.

Unique, though, to have the door turned sideways - I really like that! Unusual and creative. I liked the first blue block placement too, and I really liked the way you built the cover to hide the doorway. :)
