Hi, I installed this mod on the Shigo Islands map and it's not working it would seem. Does it have to be at the top of my mods list? Because my 240 lvl cap dino mod needs to as well, so im not sure what the fix for that is.

Thats odd. It's a beetle... Why would it attack! :P Its not like current day dung beetles eat people.

Dung Beetles are naturally aggressive so they'll try and attack you otherwise.

On the standard map, I believe they spawn in caves - but they're a fiddly tame because you have to do it non-violently whilst having insect repellant on.

Where do you even get dungbeetles from? :P I've never found one before. xD Right now I'm living on Herb Island.

It shouldn't need to be in the first slot unless you're using another mod that overrides the normal dung beetles, but otherwise you have the correct idea.

So if this mod is used, new dung beetles that spawn around the world will be the new dung beetle? And does this mod have to be in the first slot?

They replace beetles that spawn after the mod is installed - so beetles that you've already tamed will not be adjusted.

It should in theory work with every map, as it doesn't do anything that interacts with other maps. I've tested it on the normal map, and valhalla, so it should work on others.

So does this beetle have to be spawned in or do they replace the beetles in the caves? and do they work with other maps?

Collects it when it wanders within a short range. Leave them on wander near your other dinosaurs, and they'll eventually pick stuff up.

I haven't tweaked the way they only do the processing of dung into oil/fertiliser only whilst wandering, so not letting them wander will not let that happen. They'll still collect as they just follow you around, even if they don't process it.

Does it seek out the dung or does it just collect when it happens to wonder over one, similar to the doed and ape?

@Matt Well, the logic is there, but I also understand why they didn't make it automatic: eggs, fertilizer and oil would stop being a "limited" resource... You would just a few pigs pooping into a cage with a few beetles and you're set, just come back after a while and you'll have some. Same goes for the ovi.
I guess they like the grindy aspect of the game... For me it's one of the annoying aspects of the game, wich is why I (we, actually lol) get this kind of mods :P

Huh that IS weird. You'd think they'd want functional, useful animals but I guess it is about doing it yourself a bit. But that'd be a natural instinct to want to either eat or harvest what's around them in my opinion.

Anyway, glad you did both of these and I'll be doing some testing in a little bit here, if I see anything I'll come back with it, but I'm sure you've done a fine job.

you can use "summon AutoDungBeetle_Character_BP_C" to summon them, alternatively the path should be "Blueprints/Game/Mods/AutoDungBeetles/AutoDungBeetle_Character_BP".

I haven't tested spawning them by path, but the summon one was working when I was testing them.

Too bad. I'll have to grab some new ones then, I guess. Any chance you could post the blueprint path for the spawn command (probably on the Oviraptor mod too)?

Unfortunately it has to remap the existing beetles because of the changes that had to be made to make this work - it adds some extra stuff to the event graph which is beyond what can be done without remapping as far as I can tell.

Does this work on already existing dung beetles?
Or does it create a new variant that replaces the old ones in spawns (but not existing ones) and that are lost if I remove the mod?

The bizarre thing is that (at least for the AutoOviraptor) they've specifically made it not do this. All I did was disable some of their checks. Dung beetles did need a bit more modifying.

Thanks for this and the auto ovi, I'll be checking them out for sure. Was literally saying to a friend that they missed their opportunity to do this with those creatures.
