And no, I have no current plans to put out a stand-alone version. Too much recurrence to manage with separate mods, plus there are all sorts of other things beyond just planet/star size that have to be adjusted to make something like this work properly.
It's not that big a deal to update it yourself if you really want to, just point WinMerge at map_effects.as and ftl.as and copy anything new over, making sure to preserve any changes about size, range or speed.
And yeah, I'd like to put this into ABEM as a toggleable mechanic - I just have to figure out what he did right and what he did wrong (or forgot to do) before I can safely integrate it.
What I'd really love though, is to figure out how to make this compatible (or merge into) the Alternate Balance and Expansion Mod.
Length of rail gun tracers is good enough to be visible. it has no shells, just trace lines
1. Black holes don't deal as much damage as they should when destroyed. (Also, black hole nodes need adjusting, unless you've deliberately left the script unchanged.) This is because the script controlling the explosion has not been adjusted.
2. Star explosions may or may not encompass less of the system than they did before, I couldn't tell.
3. Blowing up a planet will crash the game. Most likely, it's trying to spawn an insane amount of asteroids.
One immediately noticeable downside is that your galaxy/star count will inevitably be smaller (hmm, did you even test multiple galaxies yet?) for performance reasons, but aside from that... all it needs is a few balance tweaks, bugfixes if there are bugs to fix, and it's perfect!
