They really, REALLY stick out and ruin the look.
The Tec-9 started out as a fully automatic submachine gun intended for police use in African countries, but the weapon proved to be inaffective so it was switched to semi-auto and was sold as a pistol in countries in the United States, however, due to the way it was crappily converted to semi-auto, it was very easy for the weapon to be put back to fully-automatic simply but grinding down the right parts. If I'm not mistaken, this resulted in the weapon being outright banned in the U.S. do to it being very common for gangs to purchase large amounts of these with the intent to convert to full auto, which earned it the name "Ghetto Blaster."
Reading the description like a nromal person explains that.

This was actually a common modification to the actual gun because it was easy to do. For some reason.
