I'm pretty sure these assets have been broken over the years, because they're nowhere to be seen in the menus. Any fix?

You would need these 2 mods and change the item class and ui category. Typically related names. Just load an asset and see what names they are using and copy them for your asset after using a different template. You can also change the name to something else for a new icon which I did for this. Just look at mine to see what I did.

Under Transportation icon next to the parks icon, then large roads. Not large roads where the roads show up. Under the icon where your find the trains, airport, harbor, metro etc.

I can't find these in game. Looked in large roads, looked everywhere.

Baleur, you must be using the old assets still. They will not disappear anymore. I would look at you subscription list and remove the old ones.

Something weird. I just tried using these in my city. The containers still disappear on zoomout, and only the Endcap pieces have lights.
