I can't see slope limiter button. It seems that it is not compatible with Zoning Adjuster.

If you are seeking to build realistic looking roads, you might try this mod -

It is definitely not a replacement, but you might find it handy anyway

After a fresh re-install of C:S yesterday, even the settings GUI reappeared again for me.

As I said before, this mod worked and works absolutely fine for me with my configuration of the game.

For me, even though the options GUI doesn't work anymore, the mod still does its job limiting slopes. Sure, it's not really convenient to edit the settings in the file, but once that's done, I hardly ever change those settings. Toggling the mod temporarily on/off works fine in-game. This mod is essential for me, no other mod provides this functionality on a per network basis.

Broken

@Darth_Jimbo: Thank you very much, Darth.
Broken; considered dead. Dev has not been online on Steam for over a year.
@vodkapera: Maybe you want to look at The Difficulty Tuning Mod
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=519781146
It allows the adjustment of slope limits. Unfortunately it only allows to adjust relative (percentage of origin limit) and on global level.
Bit 2019
Very useful mod, but it's currently not working and I cannot find another one to replace it.
This is broken at this time.
It would be nice to get an update for the latest patch. All mods providing this kind of functionality seem dead.
Steel Driver 2019
Now it's not working....
Steel Driver 2019
Just tested out the mod. Slapped down a section of rail a few times, adjusting the slope limit each time. Seems to be working. Haven't had any issues so far.
Hi,
I didn't play for a while, and now I just launched the game and I have a message that it is impossible to load the classes of the mod.
Here my log file:
http://www.filedropper.com/outputlog_20
Hello Jonas,
I'm afraid, the last update (1.92-f1) broke the mods gui.
The mod itself is working but I can't access the options screen, it's just blank.
Debug-Output says:
[wtmcsConfgurableSlopeLimits] <Mod.OnSettingsUI> [ReflectionTypeLoadException] The classes in the module cannot be loaded.
Please update, thank you.
Best regards, Jimbo
Hey @Jonas, seems that whenever "Straight Slope" option is selected in Fine Road Tool the slope limits are no longer obeyed. Here are my https://gist.github.com/airatin/dbf7c717c898c7167b2ea4416ab18457 and https://gist.github.com/airatin/81eef7c6fbe326fdd1ab12cd500b3080 outputs.
Helter Skelter 2017
Great idea! I'll definitely give it a try
Lol one time I went to this poor city where the slopes were at like 40%. this is a cool mod
Works great now, thanks for the fix! :)
@alborzka: I did find (and fix) a bug that could be the reason it didn't work. I hope it works now.

If it doesn't, please upload a new log file. I've added a tiny bit more details to the error logging.
@alborzka: I'll look at your log this weekend, and hopefully I can find where it goes wrong.

One probable reason is that another mod adds something to the game in an incompatible way, but my intention is that my mod should handle that sort of thing without breaking.
I can no longer find the button and slopes for any roads aren't being obeyed. Here's the entire Player.log file [gist.githubusercontent.com] and I think the most relevant line is this:

Error: [wtmcsConfigurableSlopeLimits] <Limits.Initialize> [NullReferenceException] Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at WhatThe.Mods.CitiesSkylines.ConfigurableSlopeLimits.Limits.Initialize () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

I tried deleting the wtmcsConfigurableSlopeLimits.xml and reinstalling the mod, but the same error happens ( a screenshot if that helps [imgur.com]). Not sure what the problem can be?
Cool thank you, I've been looking forward to that for a long time.
nice thx :)
@philipp: This mod should now be able to apply limits to MoM tracks as well.
@philipp: MoM doesn't add its tracks the same way NExt and the game itself does, but the mod can find them so I'm going to apply the metro slope limits to those tracks as well.

(If that works, it might automatically add better compatibilty with some other mods as well.)
@philipp: Depends a bit on how and when they are added. If they are added as the same kind of collections the game normally uses I can do that, otherwise I don't know.
MOM adds its own metro tracks, would it be possible for you to add slope limits for them, too?
@Tronald Dump: They are very different.

This mods let's you change the default slimits on how steep a road, path or track is allowed to be. It was created to make it harder to put roads and rail on steep slopes, but you can set the default to be higher or lower than the games original limits, depending on whether you want more relalistic slopes or less limitations. It also adds a toggle button so you can toggle between strict and loose limits.

Road Anarchy allows you to place roads in ways the game normally does not allow, not only ignoring slopes, but also roads on top of roads, roads high up in the air, tracks on roads, etc.
@Tronald Dump this mod prevents you from making roads steeper than limits that you can set for each road/track type (you can use road anarchy to override these limits if necessary)
Lewd.Paw.Sniffer 2017
I'm trying to understand how this is different from road anarchy? wats this do?
@dannybush48: I don't know how to create a picture that explains it better than text.
An animation, video or series of pictures could probably illustrate it better, but I'm not good at that sort of stuff, and it's more work than I want to put into this.
@Tronald Dump: Are you asking a question, or just telling us that "Road Anarchy" exists?
Rusty Trucker 2017
any chance of pic to what it can do thanks
Lewd.Paw.Sniffer 2017
road anarchy? that exists
@alborzka: I haven't used that mod, but it's possible.
This mod doesn't change any game code, it just sets values on the base objects for roads, tracks, etc, but if MOM adds it's own tracks, they might not be recognized. If that is the case I should be able to fix it by testing with MOM.
If it overrides game when laying the tracks, and ignores the slope limits, there's not much I can do.
I think this is incompatible with MOM (Metro Overhaul Mod)? For some reason the slopes I set work for everything but metro tracks :(
@Max: Thanks!
@Agamemnicon: It works with train tracks for me. Have you confirmed that the limits are toggled on when it doesn't work?
It could be a conflict with some either mod that affects slope limits (or modifies the rail tool).

If you use the "Dump network names" button in the mods options (while in a map) and upload the wtmcsConfigurableSlopeLimits.NetNames.txt files it creates in the config dir (shown beneath the button) somewhere, I can see if the limits are applies to rail tracks or not.
I've been inactive for a while (playing other games), so it's quite possibe that there has been changes in the game for which I need to update it.

I'm really looking forward to the Mass Transit Expansion, so it's very likely that I'll start playing more, and check and fix functionality, once that is released.
Looks like the comment thread has been inactive for a while.. but I wanted to mention this mod doesn't seem to be working. I've tried setting trains to 10% and then 5% but I'm still able to draw some pretty steep grades with rail.
Great job!
@Max: It seems that the scrolling problem appears when a settings group is to long to fit in the window. I've now divided the settings into smaller groups, which has fixed it when I test.
Much obliged. If it's any help, a similar problem can be seen in the Styles tab in Content Manager. If you click on the X to remove an asset from a style, it will first auto-scroll to the top and you have to scroll down and click the X a second time to delete it.
@Max: That scrolling problem is really irritating. It didn't use to do that, and my other mod doesn't have that problem. I'll try to fix it.

And I've added a "restore-to-default-button" to my todo list.
I have some issues with manual number input for entries that are further down the list.

Example: scrolling down to edit the slope limit for Highway. Upon clicking the Highway input field, the UI automatically scrolls back up to the top of the list, rendering me unable to change the numbers unless I use the imprecise slider. It doesn't seem like "number input mode" gets initialized at all because I tried entering numbers after it auto-scrolled, and when I scrolled back down, nothing had changed.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with your mod or with the Mod Options UI.

Anyway, I have a small suggestion: Button to restore default values.

Thanks!

@thureen: The higher the value, the steeper the slope can be.

When the button is on, the configured limits are in effect.

When the button is of, the behavior depends on whether the configured limits are lower or higher than the originals.

Button off, configured limits are lower than original: the effective limits will be raised above the games original values (allowing steeper slopes).

Button off, configured limits are higher than original: The games original limits are used.

IIRC the games original limit is 0.25 for some stuff, and 0.5 for some, but I'm not sure. If the mod has been able to collect the original limits the first time you change it's option, the default value will be the original, otherwise the default value in the mod will be 0.25, so it can be 0.25 for stuff where that's not the default.
Hello, probably a simple question but I am trying figure out how to use this mod.

1.) First of all, what does the Toggle [%/] button do? If it is On (blue) does mean the mod is activated and if it is gray (off) does it mean the game will function as if the mod doesn't exist?

2.) I assuming this mod can help eliminate the "slope too steep" message the prevent steep road being built?

3.) What does 0.0 in slider mean vs 1.00 in slider? Does 0.0 mean steep slope is allowed vs 1.0? Or it is the opposite?

4.) Also, is the 0.25 value I see the default, the same value the game would use without this mod?

Thanks
@Lim Jahey: I've checked the game code, and there are no changes in the code that actually checks the slope limits.

There are a bunch of change in the tool used for making roads though, and the game has new code differences depending on whether the road is below, on or above ground. It's possible those changes affects how and when the game checks slopes. If it does, the changes should affect checking with the games default limits as well.

If you have any mod that affects the road tool, that could also affect slope checking.

Since this mod only sets values in the network objects, without of overriding any code, anything requiring code overrides is out of scope for it, so I hope that isn't necessary to get it to work right.
