Also, for me, it gave me enough XP to get to level 8 (almost 9, in fact) straight off the bat, as well as giving some *super powerful* gear to start with, including a Light Saber that you wouldn't get until a long while into the game. Conversely, you don't get some of the fixed drops, most importantly the implants you'd get in the Dormitory section - be prepared for some intense save scumming to get these early, none of the merchants available on Telos are actually very keen on stocking those.
On a more minor note, while you do get the influence on Kreia and Atton, you miss out on the pip you'd get with T3.
And the most hated part of this game.
