Is this updated to 2.7.1? I assume it doesn't need to be, I don't think they changed mercenaries much

Anyway to have only the player can use this? I got 33 companies in my game right now and I'm only 10 years in.

Kinda sucks that it requieres Horse Lords, cuz for players that dont have HL, they cant play it.

Actually, I apologize. I think I the problem was that I had taken trible holdings in Finland that couldn't become feudal because of religion. So it was breaking the saves somehow. I would have taken the territory around the same time as when I installed the mod.

Is there a way to uninstall this? I've disabled the mod, purged every mercenary company formed by it and still getting companies forming. They're led by members of dynasties across Europe (not nomads). Unless the vanilla game had some companies like this forming from the start (I never really use mercenaries much).

All my autosaves since playing with this mod are landless (no kingdoms to play as). This has broken a very fun viking campaign I had going. Not happy. Also, a ton of weird things started happening. For example, adventurers declaring war on me (hadn't happened for hundreds of years up until I used the mod), but they insta-fail (inconclusive) and end up in my court. Also, just had an Islamic decadance revolt declare war on me (I'm viking king of Britain).

@DaBauce If I start a new game every has land but then it eventually goes to landless. And I'm not sure, I didn't change any of the updates or anything, I let it be automatic. I'll check though

I checked all the mods and none of them have conflicting files. If you start a new game is everyone landless? what about if you disable the mods? Is this from the previous patch (before 2.4?)

So I'm trying to play in Ireland and Idk if this is cause of a conflict with another mod but I can't immagine because the other two mods don't affect tittles or anything so I'm not sure what the issue is or how this happens but in the late 800's whenever I try to load up the save, it says I'm landless, in fact, it says everyone in the world is landless so when I load up as anybody, it automatically ends the game. Now I only am playing with 3 mods so I don't understand how it's occuring and the other two mods is Trade++ and Ruler Designer Unlocked, I'm looking to see if it's an issue with any of these mods but this one seemed the most logical. Do you know what's happening? O_O

Jojema is correct, the requirements are your target must be an adult, a male, not a ruler, is your dynasty, and you must be their direct liege. Most of the time you will be selecting your son.

@WTID, you send your son off as soon as he is an adult. Once you have a son that is 16 right click on him for intereaction.

Who are you trying to turn into a mercenary? What type of government are you? Can you still do it as a nomad?

i dont understand i think i do something wrong ai can start mercenary company but i cant i dont see any option to send away as a mercanary thing

im gonna test this out. i surely would not like to wade through an ass load of merc groups lol. ill update here with around 50-100 years ingame.

Ok I have released an update that lowers the rate of mercenary companies creation in feudal, republic, and theocrazy governments by 99% (which means the AI has a 1 in 1000 chance each month to start a mercenary company of they have all the other requirements.) Nomads and Tribals have the same rate which is the vanilla rate. This should help long term with the copious amount of mercenary companies being created by the byzantines and abbasids

I like the mod. But after 15-20 years of gameplay, there are around 250-300 mercenary companies, and the number just keeps growing.

My suggestion is to drastically reduce the likelyhood of the AI using the option.

If steam doesn't update it right away after you've subscribed, you can just exit and open steam again, it'll update instantly. On a side note, cheers DaBauce, had some fun with this already!

Nealc00 wants an offsite host for the mod because steam doesn't always update when you subscribe. Wouldn't mind one myself since I can't get the mod to show up in my launcher or mod folder.

Yeah, after a while you do have a decent amount of companies. I will probably adjust the AI likelihood as i get feedback from people and using the mod.

Does the AI do it? Because if so, there will now be hundreds of mercenary companies...
