I like it, but these ships are nigh indestructible.

The pieces are super strong and regen super fast, including shields, I made a duplicate mod and lowered the regen so that my worlds were not dominated by them.

Since their thing is being super tough, I would suggest making them regen slower, as they can regen even under the biggest vanilla lasers, but leave their health overall high.

@1MINISKIDI: The "hardened hull" and "hardened cores" have very high durability, and weaker non-explosive projectiles will bunce off them harmlessly. The Tier 6 Terrasphere also blocks weaker projectiles completely.

Is it me, or are some of the ships cores really really tough?

Or is it that 'hardened hull' that makes them really really tough? i have a bit OP cannon that dosen't destory that hardened hull / ship core easily.
