Fair response, read it and I agree. I probably should be less *harsh* considering that by all means it's still a great mod for new players who feel like merging all of the factions into one (although most people I know do save editing to accomplish this in vanilla lmao)
Really it's a fault of steam search and not any fault of the players or modder, because there should really be more categories and more ways to organize mods. This'll still be up there in most subscribed either way.


BTW, You should totally get back into modding reassembly! A lot has changed since 2015, and mostly for the better. There exist many, many community resources and equally many awesome community projects on the discord, and more people making more cool projects is always better

Part 1:
I think that, like I did back then when I discovered this great game, once you play around with the default factions you are left with a "I want more!" feeling. This is why I created this mod. It is not very original nor is it very sophisticated: Back when the game came out, there what just so much one could do with the game. So I kind of took the direction I always do when I discover a title that I feel could use some adjustments. I tweaked!

I am not a good designer nor am I an expert programmer but I think I am quite good at seeing what could be improved and what is unbalanced. With that being said, merging all the official factions blocks (and the unofficial ones too!) into a single big "team" is no easy task when it comes to achieving an adequate balance...

Part 2:
I did my best at a time when there was a huge demand for "new stuff" to do in Reassembly. So the Reassembler mod took off quite spectacularly. It is by no mean an advanced mod or a total rethinking of the game mechanics... But then again, it was never the goal. It is popular so like skibidi champion points out, it is more likely to get suggested or seen by new player looking for some "end game continuity". I think it can still fill that role correctly. There are surely more refined content out there, I haven't tried them all out so, yes, by all mean explore and I do believe that what makes a great modding community is the diverse content that comes with passionate peoples gravitating around strong yet often not so popular titles like Reassembly...

If this is one of the greatest mods on the workshop then I have failed in directing you to try and explore the workshop a bit more before settling on the oldest, most popular thing.

Please, give the shop a chance and explore some more neiche mods. Many of the good ones include complete sound libraries, tens of thousands of lines of code, well-crafted shrouds, fragments, and shapes.lua code, among other things.

I say this because I'm getting tired of seeing new players on the discord try Reassembly out, play the vanilla game, then download mods and feel like the game has nothing more to offer after a single extraReassembly or reassembler playthrough.

I disagree with skibidi champion. This is one of the greatest mods on the workshop and is great for new players looking for a flexible and decently balanced faction. Sure, the palette is huge which results in many statistically obsolete blocks, but it's an overall great faction to mess around with and one of my favourites.

are you just trying to kill this mod and extra reassembly by saying new players shouldnt use them? because as a new player both mods are nice and i would suggest them for fellow new players.

Fair warning to all new players who are downloading mods for the first time;

While this mod is absolutely impressive for it's time, it is showing signs of age (being over 9 years old!) and is questionable for new players due to extreme palette bloat and having odd block additions

I would recommend looking at other mods on the workshop before considering this.

Hello, may I ask if Chinese localization is possible? Or could you create a dedicated text file for block names and descriptions to make it easier for individuals to localize? I really enjoy this mod, but my limited English makes it hard to fully understand each module's purpose, which has been a bit frustrating. If this request comes across as offensive in any way, I sincerely apologize.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction WarMechanic. The Gauss drones should now work as expected. The problem was related to the energy generation being set to zero unit per second. As you mentioned, since they are single use drone, I boosted both the energy capacity and regeneration value to 100.

I'm learning how to mod and I made my own gauss drone. It seems that even when { power = 0, } a drone with charging may require power (25 in my case) to fire. Adding a generator rectified this, and it doesn't change anything since the drone is one use.

I have some other mods yes but they're cvar changes and I don't see how they would affect gauss drones, Splinter's Graphics Overhaul, Hunted (Start with Only One Station), Reassembler and my own mod which takes some of the cvar changes from SparcsMod, I also got Free Block Upgrades recently but there were no behavioural differences before and after I got it.

Gauss drones don't seem to do anything. They fly towards the target, hover around but I don't see any pew pew lasers and it has me scratching my head.

"Unobtanium struts" are part of the Reassemblers arsenal. Make sure to check carefully in the (rather long) list of blocks. Concerning your question about the "DLC items", I assume you mean "other mods" made by the community. The answer is no: new blocks provided by mods are not included when playing with the Reassembler faction. This would require some form of advanced scripting which is not part of the base game. If by DLC you meant the official Reassembly expansion "Fields" then the answer is yes, it will work fine with Reassembler.

Yes, attempting to balance the vast array of available weapons for the Reassembler faction is the reason why some weapons, including the Arkas line of laser turrets, have different, sometimes lower stats than the original faction weapon. This is no easy task trying to strike a balance between efficiency, damage and costs. The Reassembler faction have some unique devices that are not available to other factions as well so experimenting and getting out of one's "comfort zone" was one of the design goal I had in mind... Of course, not everyone is going to agree with the choice I made in the end. :KOh:

Why do the Arkas PRP lasers all have turret turn limitations? don't they normally have a 360 vision of fire? they all have 215 degrees "cone of action" is it because of balancing? or some other reason they are like this.

Hey there! How do I swap the cores? I have them unlocked but I can't find a way to delete the old one when blueprinting.

Hello Tearlaments Kitkallos,

To acquire a core you do not have, you need to locate a Reassembler 'barebone' ship that use such a core and add it to the blueprint library. These barebones ships spawn early in the game when there is nothing else to use as ship designs. Look for tiny teleporting ships near default stations...

How do I use cores that I don't already have in my blueprints? I can't copy them obviously since I don't have any designs with them.

Hi Nommy,

Reassembly uses a special reallocation system during mod loading: To prevent any possible conflicts between different mods, the game reassign faction ID during mod loading. So even though the mod files may say a faction as "ID 20" in reality, that number will be unique to each users and will look more like this "ID 121820020".

To determine which ID the game as assigned to a moded faction, in the main menu click on "Mods" and scroll until you see the "Reassembler" sub-box. You should see in the box a line that reads "RelocID xxxxx" followed by one that reads "Faction 5, yyyyyyyyy". The number that you see "yyyyyyyyy" is the faction ID for the Reassembler faction. So, in the Sandbox, you need to type (for example):

minpalette 121820020

To spawn all Reassembler's blocks.

Hi, is there a quick, simple, easy way to test ship designs using sandbox or something similar (creative mode)?

I ran palette 20 command in sandbox console to try and add the blocks for this faction but it said there was no blocks. I can't make a ship in sandbox as there are no blocks in the palette.

Needs more balance. Agents kill me before I can even get a station or a ship that can defend itself. Nice idea, executed poorly. Needs starting stations that can defend themselves and can actually build a ship with more than 25p. Every other faction starts with ships and stations with over a thousand p.

The shapes im having trouble with are the (used to be wedges but now they are full triangles) triangles. maybe add an extra wedge shape vtol, thx for responding :steamthumbsup:

I see. Seems like the changes I made to the existing vectored thrusters was a mistake. I should probably have kept the old ones around as 'legacy' blocks. Oh well.

Looking forward, can you tell me, from any of the block shapes, the one you would like to have as full 360 degrees rotating version? I'l put together an update in the coming days so you can at least upgrade your existing design to your liking.

Galenmacil, the block that is causing me trouble is the vtol thrusters. Now that they changed shape, my ship is broken. PS. add a flipped version for people who want to put them on the sides of there ships, because now they have rotation limit, either that or delete the rotation limit

it shows that:

Okay yep, going through a wormhole did cause a bunch of different cores to start spawning!
I had started this world awhile ago and just came back to it, so perhaps something glitched with the base game spawning logic as I had copied two designs prior to stepping away from the game.

I did a quick test with a new game and I was able to find 6 or so Reassembler ships with unique cores while exploring near the initial starting station. The game was never meant to support multiple core per faction... It is quite clunky to make it work. As far as I know, the latest update did not change the way pre-designed 'unique' ships are spawned.

I'm probably missing something simple here, but I can't find any designs to copy with different command blocks?
The stations are only creating the initial simplex designs and I can't target enemy ships.
I've tried importing the designs from the mod's "ships" folder and get told they have the "wrong command block"
Did the June 24th update change how the ship design stuff works? Thanks!
