At the very least, someone at Paradox should be able to look into your CRP files and see what's taking up so much space.
Try disabling all your mods, and then making an asset. Might not work, but I'm thinking maybe some mod is causing the game to package a huge amount of unwanted code or data with the asset.

I'm just wondering if maybe the modelling program you're using has exported some extra unwanted data or something along with the model which is making the game do something weird.
