Hey man, please don't remove this, I personally prefer these sounds over the one CC made. Is there any chance you could update this to only affect the masked grunts?

the new voices just aren't good I'm sorry. I know this tries to fix it but it just sounds so fake and try hard, like what someone thinks "sounds cool".

I found that by putting it in the custom folder containing the sound folder, which contains sound.cache, leaving it next to the sound folder, made it work without needing to use snd_restart. Sounds great and adds so much awsome to the game. Thanks!

2 things. 1. what's the file name of this addon? 2. it would be cool if the fitler didn't work for non-gas mask units

@Mr.Zombie OK just found out it might be possible, the dude who says "Aw man You cut the pontail" Has a radio filter over all his lines, I tested and he said "check your ammo" and it had a radio filter so, yeah....

I don't think that's very impossible, it's just not an easy mod to make probably. @Flaninty

@Tylego Y'know thats partially impossible, all grunts have the same sounds, BUT you might be able to do this, for example the hecu grunt who asks what that sign says is a gasmask grunt, you could probably add a radio filter over that line.

I wish there was a version where just the gasmask grunts have radio voices and the beret and medic models have normal voices...

Guys, type snd_restart in the console every time you launch Black Mesa. This is necessary for sound mods to load properly.

Like Kenshin says. I don't hear any HECU marines voices with this mod installed but It used to work.

somehow most of the conversations the HECU marines have are disabled with this mod. Not that it doesn't work, but you won't hear the dialogues they have, though the subtitles are still there.

Actually you have to assamble it manual, since for some reasons game have some bugs with sounds subscriped.

it works after i write snd_restart, but once i wuit game and start to play i have to rewrite it, which takes away much of the point

do i have to write snd_restart everytime i load a game? because it seems it either doesnt work or i have to restart the entire game which i dont wanna do, since it might not even work then..?

Is it possible to make it that the filter only applies to soldiers with gasmasks, leaving squad leaders and medics talking normally? Or is that impossible/too much work?

Only worth it if it doesn't apply to ones without gasmasks as it wouldn't make sense on say, officers.

YES!!!! I hope this mod works correctly. This will make BM absolutely perfect, I was so, so dismayed when I found that the soldiers sounded.. normal.
The distorted, radio voices of the original gave them a less human, more sinister tone.

too bad your solution doesn't work for other mods, tried it on HEV charge remastered and a berreta M9 reskin with custom sounds, no dice :/

Ok, here a temporary fix, use the beta public branch on black mesa and type snd_restart on console if the soldiers are mute, it should fix it.

It seems the sound mods are still broken with the new update, I tried to fix by reuploading it with the new publish tools on the beta public branch, but it still doesn't work. I'll see what I can do.

I did the mod for non-steam version. You can still find the download link on the forums.
I am capable of repurposing it for the steam version, but it will take a lot of listening and renaming. Currently replaying the steam version. Planning to do the replacement once the Uncut maps are in (a week or so).

They kinda sound like the Nine Tailed Fox in SCP: Containment Breach with this mod.
