Ice doesn't seem to last long at all, really, kind of dissapointing, and makes it hard as hell in summer.

That could be a recent change because when I made this mod, ice didn't melt in winter, and didn't melt inside ice boxes.

I've found ice melts even in winter, and inside ice-boxes too. So this isnt' hugely nesesary.

Read the last sentence in the mod description.
"Note: Players can STILL put Ice in Crock Pots! This is because Ice is used in two legitimate recipes (Melonsicle and Ice Cream)."

And also see the first line in mod description.

What it does is it stops Ice from being used as a Filler.
The mod is called "No Ice as Filler". emphasis "FILLER".
