I find the whole "paid mods" debacle hilarious. Valve has every right to set whatever price they want for mods. They could just drop the service entirely. No payment, just nothing. What, are you gonna start using Origin? Besides, it's not like its free for Valve to host the steam workshop servers. The least you could do is support them with your money. You might see the individual modders as the "little guys", but Valve is pretty small company to my knowledge.

You should balance it by adding an unhappiness penalty, because a majority of people hated the idea.

You should add +1 unhappines per turn (if possible, if not just 10 unhappines) until wonder is removed (if you can even program that, if not just scrap my idea)

@Vice I just moved my Steam installation and I'm reinstalling everything at the moment, so it'll be an indefinite amount of time before I'm able to.
But yes I will if you want it for bug testing.

Maybe if Steam wants more money they can encourage game developers to create quality content from the get-go instead of selling the same game three separate times as "expansions" and relying on unpaid hobbyists to shore up the lack of care and originality shown by game developers.

I for one, as much as I appreciate the hard work of the modding community, would never dream of paying for mods. If a game sucked so bad I had to continue to pay to keep it interesting I would simply stop playing it all together.

Cohort, the problem with monetized mods is that modders still weren't being paid for their hard work, lazy assmunchers were getting paid for reuploading modders content.

*has an idea* perhaps instead of forcing people to pay for modded content, why not add a donation option so modders can get money from the (generous portion) of the steam community.

It's "Their" Cohort, kinda obvious you would fail at spelling since you think anybody is saying that, when what we are saying is that "Steam and Bethesda shouldn't be paid the lions share of other people's work".
