Yes, hold q, go under Tools to the right, Render, Player Trails Tool.
Addons are meant for innovation, and if you want to keep using the older more repetetive and less efficient method, that's your choice.
Yes, but this method is far more efficient...
For instance, what if you're in a server where not everybody can spawn weapons, yet everybody owns a Toolgun?

You could place some bones (Head, Elbow, Legs, Pelvis) in a menu...
