I didn't have enough flat space to build an airport so I built it on the ground of the ocean, using two dams :D The boats didn't learn though...

I have no idea why it wasn't in the game, but it was one of the first thing I noticed when I placed my very first airport. So thanks !
On an unrelated note, you have a boat landing on your airport. It's rather disturbing.
