Make sure all the rope pulleys posts are aligned the same direction 0°/90°/180°/270°. I use steel weights on the bottom post. it was made 3+ years ago so its may be glitchy now.

OK so how do you connect the ropes? I have tried several different ways and have not gotten anything to work.

If you're creative, you could posibly make a sluice box, not all of them had gentle slopes.
