I went ahead and published my version of your addon, called "SprayMesh Extended". Given the past comments here, it seems like you're fine with people making adjustments to this addon, so hopefully this is alright with you :)

Hi, I was wondering if I could get your permission to upload my own modified version of SprayMesh? I've worked on my own customized version of this addon for a server I run. I've added a bunch of new features, like easier developer API/moderation tools such as spray clearing, persistent sprays between game reloads, a dedicated spray manager/settings menu, rotatable sprays on floors and ceilings, etc.

Obviously I'll give credits to you for making the original addon in the description.

Every time I press the 'spray logo' button,it just keeps popping up the message saying "this server uses SprayMesh..."

But if it helps, I happen to know it was working 6 months ago. You might just need to launch gmod with Chromium mode. Do that by going to the gmod page in your steam Library, hit the gear on the top right, a popup will appear. Go to the Betas section on the left, and select the beta "x86-64 - Chromium + 64-bit binaries"

Sorry fam, I made this 8 years ago. Haven't opened the game for more than a couple minutes at a time for the past five years. If it's getting fixed it'll be up to you lol.

@Hambubger go for it! I've actually still been using this version using saint B's method but I know the addon is pretty out of date and could be improved in a lot of ways (especially fixing support for certain web services to embed URLs from)

I'm definitely not going to fix this myself, so I appreciate it.

Hello, I've found a way to fix this addon, would you be ok with me uploading a fixed version? There are also a couple of improvements I would like to add. I would credit you as the original creator, of course.

This addon is great! However, one issue I have is that URLs from ImgBB specifically don't seem to want to work. I made sure I was using a direct spray URL and that the format was compatible, but it only seems to work from imgur, which I unfortunately don't tend to use.

@Grace everyone has to switch to it for it to work. It is the only solution as the HTML rendering is clientside, not serverside.

His suggestion works but not on servers, everyone would have to switch to x86-64

try out saint B's suggestion for how to make it work; it's not something that i can fix
but you have to delete the .gma file in your addon directory after unsubscribing on the steam workshop, to remove it

Yeah I spent literally 10 hours going through the code to see if something regarding render or imesh was deprecated/altered, only to realise that it was something to do with something changing regarding html that wasn't even in the update log.

Thanks Saint B! I haven't had the time to get back into gmod development, but I did see that it was broken and simply had no idea why besides that a gmod update was related.

FOR THOSE WISHING TO FIX SPRAYMESH: Go into your gmod properties on Steam, and under the "Betas" section, change your version to "x86-64 - Chromium + 64-bit binaries". This will not break anything and will fix any issues with this and another addons that use HTML

i think this is broken. it was working last time I played (maybe a month-ish ago) and now sprays just dont show up anymore.

ok i got it to work now. I had to replace the "zippy." part at the beginning with "giant."

hhhmmm I'm assuming this must be something with gifycat itself then. I have tested some random gifs that work just fine & others that stay invisible. This one works http://zippy.gfycat.com/AccurateVelvetyChevrotain.webm though it seems like a lot on gifycat wont play, they dont show anything when you add the webm to the end. They just show that weird XML file error when you add the .webm. gifycat doesnt like to play some gifs with the .webm at the end.

This is the gif i have been trying to get uploaded on my gmod spray mesh but it seems as if the gif is cursed, or something. I have formatted it to 512x512, lengthened the gif from 1 second to 3 seconds & it doesn't seem like it makes a difference. I have been putting in SprayMesh_URL zippy.gfycat.com/UnselfishUnfinishedHydatidtapeworm.webm Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

I'm familiar with how badly gif files affect performance. In the original release of this addon, the script automatically determined if files were of gif format and refused to display them. I'm no longer maintaining this addon, but if you open up the .gma file to look at the code that detects gif you may be able to find out what went wrong. It probably has something to do with imgur's website changing over the years.

can you add a convar to disable gifs as they cause major performance issues for us

Your addons folder will have a .gma file for this addon. Unsubscribing does not automatically delete the .gma.

I didn't want to use spraymesh anymore, but after removing it from the workshop I still get the message "this server uses spraymesh. . . " what should I do to remove it completely (excluding reinstallation of the game).

@Bletotum Ive placed the console commands. ive set the command. and it just plays only for half a second then goes straight back to being the Black Square saying to activate Videos.

Am i doing something wrong.

@greatsuperfatman There's a console command to set videos to work. If you set it clientside (on your gaming computer) and then exit the game normally with the Quit button in the menu, it will be saved for future sessions. Just to be sure, try using the command while in singleplayer with a map open. To see available console commands, set your spray url to something invalid and place a spray, then look in your console at the help text.

@JohnSmith If you have any constructive criticism to make this more worthwhile for you, I'm all ears. I just hated the way sprays were so unreliable (as in, they wouldn't always appear) in default Garrysmod, and went the extra mile to let them play videos.
