oh. that would mean the only way to make it work that way would be to make political gridlock be affected by something else...and that wouldn't make much sense. oh well :l

@bobbychappy Problem with that is it makes a feedback loop that you can't get out of, since the situation is triggered by approval in the first place.

perhaps you could make so that each individual faction (wealthy, socialist, trade unionist etc) disaprove of political gridlock instead of everyone? this would lower the loyalty of the entire cabinet, lowering politcal capital generated. Of course, that might be too brutal...
either way, good mod.

@alternatethis help me think of a name and I'll post a beta tonight. I just finished packaging it all together so it's ready to go. Just keep in mind that there's quite a few things missing and unbalanced. Not all of the industry policies have been made and I've barely started on the events and dilemmas. But it shouldn't crash (use autosave in case) and it should give you substantially more stuff to play around with, new challenges, etc.

@bobbychappy I wish, that was my original idea but I couldn't find a way to do it. If you come across one let me know.

would it be possible to have political gridlock greatly lower the amout of political capital you get to better simulate politics? either way,you added murican politics to democracy 3 10/10

Then stay tuned, because a big fat megapack/expansion is on the way, it will include this mod as well as adding industries (oil, coal, agriculture, etc) and lobbyists for each industry. Lots of other shiny new goodies too but I don't want to spoil too much.

Ok... it was another mod that featured corruption, and was posted on the Positech forum. Mixed them up.

@dd I could make it decrease immigration to simulate that. The brain drain in this game isn't the same brain drain as in reality. In reality, well-educated people leave for places with better standards of living etc so you can end up with a shortage of doctors etc. But in this game, brain drain seems to represent the mythical capitalist idea of brain drain, where high taxes lead to a sudden exodus of rich people. I think the best way to get what you're after is to have corruption decrease immigration and create skills shortage, which is actually a really good idea, thanks! Unfortunately I've been testing some new mods that I've been working on and they require a combination of my mods to be enabled and I'm not sure if I want to package them all together or not so I'm not sure when I'll be able to update my mods. Rest assured though, there's a lot more interesting stuff on the way (like lobbyists :p)

Corruption should definetely increase brain drain. Every immigrant I know left their country partially because found the government to be highly corrupt.

@Zander273 Oh, I see. My mistake. Just a bit confused about that.

@Jalios The effect from equality is similar to that of the environment on pollution. It shows up as a positive effect, but the effect decreases as equality increases. Low equality=high contribution to corruption. I'd have to check but I think high equality lowers corruption as well.

So... Why would a ♥♥♥♥♥♥'s equality increase the corruption? Would it not be the other way around?

I think I've got it, I'll upload it sometime soon (hopefully today). There's some interesting effects from this. You can have one group that has 80% membership and 40-something approval give the same effect as a group with 20% membership and like 10% approval. Both will contribute around 10% to Political Gridlock. For those who don't want to wait: change the equations to look like "0-(x*Wealthy_perc)"

I'm not quite sure if I can do that, but I did think about it when I was making this and I might try to bring it in later. The main problem is to do that you'd need an effect for each group that takes into account both their approval and membership in the same equation. Not sure if that's possible but the modding guide seems to indicate it is so I'll probably try it at some point. Right now the equations look like "Wealthy,0-(x-0)/4" but it would have to be something like "Wealthy,0-(x-0)*Wealthy_perc". I think the reason I kept it simple was a combination of laziness and the fact that Political Gridlock used to be called Filibuster, and with a filibuster you only need one crotchety old man whos pissed off enough and happens to be a Senator. But I decided to make it more vague because filibusters are unique to the U.S. And I think right now the effects make a decent simulation of a gov't shutdown--hence the effects on state employees and unemployment.

Heh, that's pretty funny. Though I think one nitpick I have about this situation is that the number of members in the relevant voting blocs should impact it too, since if your policies piss of socialists, but nobody in your country is socialist, this event should not fire.

Hahaha that's a pretty awesome coincidence, I just put that description there as a joke because I didn't want to take the time to write out a full description. I probably will later. Speaking of which, when the situation starts and ends its supposed to say "Senator Curmudgeon now has the floor" and "Whether because his depens have gotten soggy or because he's run out of wild birds to name Senator Curmudgeon has given up the floor." but I'm not seeing it anywhere. If anyone spots that please get me a screenshot so I know where the game uses these descriptions.
