Check out in the in-game war paint viewer skins like Lumber From Down Under, Local Hero, Tartan Torpedo, and Hickory Hole Puncher (in all wears). I think those are some good examples of Valve-made skins with well executed wood wear. (Mind you they did make a mistake of having the grain of the worn wood texture misaligned with the grain of the clean texture lol).
