You start off with 12 seconds of "PAUSE" that's constantly draining, signified by the meter above your head
Holding the Assist button for however long you like freezes you in time. Unlike Moustache Girl's time freeze, your hitboxes, grabboxes, etc. are still active if you're frozen on an active frame, so you can extend a hitbox for a very long time for some shenanigans, or you can just briefly tap PAUSE to do microspacing-esque shenanigans.
Using "PAUSE" causes the meter to drain at 2.5x speed, and if you hold on one "PAUSE" for a period of time, the meter starts draining faster and faster until you unpause. So it's pretty variable how long you can truely be frozen in time for. Keep an eye on the HUD!
