Genuine question: What tangible improvement would this make for the game? Charms are just another avenue to further homogenise TF2's art style and direction with more gaudy unnecessary crap to gamble on and pay for.

@Demo you can bet your ass that the game would run a hell of a lot worse if they became as widespread as they are in any other game where they're present, especially if they were made to be cheap. The game is bloated as is and mcomms' work on improving performance via the sdk is going to take literal years to complete (and that's if valve bothers implementing any of it). Otherwise I and many others object because a majority of these charms don't fit the game in the first place. Some people care about that, it's fine that you don't

@Woshee Brolunite's comment below perfectly encapsulates why I said they don't fit the game, I didn't say it was an artstyle thing because it's of a style thing

Everyone in the comments and discussions is freaking out over the idea that community charms might get added to the game instead of simply just asking why they should be so worried about them in the first place. Seriously, what exactly does do to hurt the game? What exactly does this stop you from doing?

I already said my opinion on this in the discussion post, but to put a quick summary here, the game does not need another form of weapon cosmetics added to it. We have more than enough as it is, I'd rather Valve put time into making Casual function over adding in keychains for guns to trick gullible people into gambling on digital items.
Brolunite 11 月 5 日 上午 4:03
The way they're just half-assedly bolted to the side of weapons without any attempt at complementing their aesthetic is just not visually pleasing.
Plus, this sort of tiny detail is inherently completely at odds with the game's whole art style, not even taking into account how out of place and tacky they are individually, this is the type of ♥♥♥♥ current day children/pushover highschoolers would put on their backpack.

I'm sorry if you spent a lot of time making them, but maybe if you spent more of that time on the drawing board you'd have realized this concept was fundamentally busted.

Gonna be honest: cute models, but the way charms just dangle off weapons always felt very awkward to me. Fun lil project, but nah, don't really want to see these ingame :p

please do not add to game please
Clox 11 月 4 日 上午 11:58
Eric Smith, if you can hear me, please please don't ever add this

you know it's a good sign when discussions with negative opinions get deleted :steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

Here is a more serious comment. There is already levels, cosmetics, stranges, unusuals, MvM drops, and warpaints. That is six different ways to trade already. We do not need another one added for any reason. Let alone one that only you would profit from.
Arcticman 11 月 4 日 上午 7:38
We do not need more ballsack items in the game
Mugtoast 11 月 4 日 上午 3:22
This needs a little MvM robot for absolute coolness or a MvM bomb instead
Woshee 11 月 4 日 上午 1:04
weapon attachments as in the community ones.
Woshee 11 月 4 日 上午 1:00
My issue with your criticism is I don't see how these aren't fitting of the artstyle, also personally the neon lights are little too out there for a attachment as it takes up most of the weapon space, festivizers, botkillers, and stat clocks are more subtle, and not extremely distracting to the eyes.

weapon attachments mostly feel like they are supposed to have a game mechanic tied to them, or be a seperate weapon entirely, like the natascha, scottish resistance.
scaypies 11 月 4 日 上午 12:17
There are issues with this, though I doubt doubt the potential.
Most of these don't fit TF2 (looks wise/ per-warpaint) and are pretty limited in scope. There are already some ridiculous ones on display here such as the mini minute or the pocket palette... where would this idea be after a few years of new charms, assuming valve milks it? Imo less than half of these submissions could be added as-is.
That being said, "weapon accessories" could be a lot more than just this. Some older workshop submissions showcase what could come to be instead, such as:

These charm designs are so cute and joyful! I love the Balloonicorn one! And the briefcase! And Miss Pauling as a figurine! And the way the spycrab grabs the chain is creative! Amazing work!
