i guess you need to be 250 iq scientist these days for mod making :p
If you're going for fantasy metals, then Adamnatium and Orichalcum are other metals you can add in the future.
Let us offer the gods up a pearl made from tungsten-steel alloy so that we might be blessed with greater yields of excavated ore from the mountains.
What? Are we going to dig up the legendary Magnesium ore next lol
Also, come on. Why are you being an arse to people who make stuff for free...
If the OSA came to America as it is in the UK then what would happen.
I imagine every steam workshop creator would change their image host overnight or within a week.
Because America is a large country with a lot of influence over everything.
Every country has its issues but something like this could happen anywhere and being unwilling to adapt so everyone can equally access content or information related to a mod or mod page is harmful for the future of modding as country's try to go on moral crusades against any form of unsavory content or asking these websites to add age verification.
To me a long term solution is for Valve to offer the ability for people to upload images directly to steam for use on steam workshop pages like how it works with guides. I am not talking about the image carousel that workshop creators can already use i am referring to the ability to insert images directly into the description of a workshop items
Counter point.
Not everyone has the technical know-how or means to use a VPN.
Not doing anything will harm users by making it harder for them to understand what a mod does so their less likely to download it unless they want to jump through hoops in order to do so.
Using a VPN is not easy for everyone to do especially people of an older generation or people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Workshop creators who still create workshop pages which use imgur embeds are either unaware of this issue or they cannot be asked to use a different image host for newer mod uploads or they have some other reason.
I understand why older mods wont get their images updated to work but newly released mods should stop using imgur for infographics and instead move it elsewhere.
Sorry for the rambling i live in the UK so i have to put up with this crap and it bugs me that mod developers have not gotten the memo yet.
Did you know you can embed images from github and place them on a steam workshop page in a similar way to how you can embed imager images on a workshop page.
Basically upload the image to a github repository.
Open the image within github and then right click on it and press "open image in new tab"
Copy the URL from the address bar in the newly opened tab.
Replace the URLs for the embeds on the workshop page with the ones from github.
Now anyone can see the info-graphics that you have made. also it makes the workshop page look way better.
Hope this info helps.
@greensniperhat thanks, i've copy pasted this message in discussion so it doesn't get lost in chat.
@SanguinarcAQL they can also be bought (but are kinda rare) by trading at other colonies, and sometimes with comms console trader ships.
