How can i lower the speed? it is the same or faster than players and i lowered it to 0.2 in settings.cfg also flashlight dont work?

I installed a mod that increases max player health to 500 hp, so i will fine when it comes to shoving the howler

@Brad Don't worry, the light from the flashlight slows it down, but only for 20 seconds.

@Kали the speed increase when on fire is just a small amount so I don't think adding something like that in settings will be necessary, I just made it invulnerable to the flashlight when ignited and with 100% of hunter's speed so with this is enough for me and the nightmare logic won't be neccesary

@alxniw Hey great mod, thanks for posting this. Was wondering, when it spawns in initially, its slow and acts as normal but after like 20 seconds it starts to get much faster. Basically the same speed as the player or even slightly faster. Is this intentional ? I haven't changed any settings. Also this is when its not ignited by fire just roaming around chasing. I haven't downloaded mods to change SI speed or anything. Only hunter related mod I have is the ceiling hang

@alxniw you could make it an option in settings, with the speed multiplier also being in settings if people find the default one too overkill

well considering that these howlers are based on the og howler update from September 29 they don't have that mechanic, since it was implemented in the update from October 8 (checking the change notes), but I was actually thinking about implementing it, but was afraid that it would be too overkill since this howler literally wipes out my whole team when it gets ignited sometimes, so I might settle by it be immune to the flashlight when ignited or do you think that is better to also add the same mechanic that nightmare has that makes it faster when ignited but adapted to the howler that makes it gain its original speed (100%), since it always has 80% of Hunter's speed or just maybe keep the speed multiplier logic, so perhaps we could double its current speed when ignited or idk

i could be wrong, but i think there is a mechanic in the original mod where he gets really fast while on fire

will hunter's still spawn and only have a 16 percent chance to be replaced by this thing? Or do normal hunters disappear entirely? Is there a way to code this in such a manner that the special infected it's replacing still spawns normally is basically what I'm asking

@Skerrox why is it odd if it's supposed to die on fire anyway, the howler has a condition that when it is not ignited it will be impervious to all kinds of damage, however its only weakness is fire cuz once ignited the howler will be vulnerable to everything and it's programmed to die in 10 seconds after that

i find it odd once the howler is set on fire, it became vulnerable as i see the bots shooting at it and it died before 10 seconds has passed.

@alxniw maybe the boomer without the explosion mechanic or charger without the charge, as 049 just kinda slowy walks in your direction. A question, will you keep making those mods or there will be a last one

@Kали it's a cool idea indeed, I wonder what si class would fit it better since I'm done with hunter related vscripts (there are way too many and compatibility isn't always perfect)

@Mr Fox Wilde those are remnants that the howler left after it died and they are dangerous but should disappear after some time

@Kали That's right, the ceiling hunter mod affects all hunters globally including custom ones like howler, faster, kate, amanda, etc. I've been testing the howler with that mod and when it spawns under a ceiling it will stick to it since the Hunter Ceiling AI forces it to do so and if a survivor gets near it, it will eventually pounce making hunter sound attack ofc, something that the howler isn't supposed to do, but it happens sometimes and eventually Howler's own AI will take over so it's not biggie.

I have encountered a bug. My teammates and I triumphantly killed it, but a few seconds after walking near/past where the Howler was at, it still did damage towards us and killed Louis AFTER it was dead.

@sassy i think its because he replaces the hunter, if you use hunter mods like the celling hunter, it will probably affect him. For the pounce, he one shots you anyways

Hey buddy I adore your special infected series, I seem to have a bugged howler in which he acted as if he was a hunter which I'm not sure of the cause (I have 600 mods okay leave me alone XD). In my case he was hanging upside down, causing him to clip through a ceiling (no anims for hanging upside down ofcourse) and then teleporting to me and doing a hunter pounce/making the hunter sound. Usually after he does the first pounce, he actually goes back to acting like a Howler. I think I resolved it by moving him wayyyy up the load order but just wanted to let you know for the sake of it :). Please continue to grant us with such bountiful mods.

@Skerrox done, now Dark Howler and Shadow Howler can coexist and if you want to play only with the visible variant you can set model_randomization to false in the settings file

@Skerrox that's the reason why I'm trying to implement new models and textures so I don't have to rely on the code for invisibility (since it also makes the shadow invinsible), the goal is to add a visible model along with an invisible one

i just set the howler's speed to 0.1 and it's still fast as hell, even i point my flashlight at it and it doesn't slows down and it rushes toward me

@Skerrox the ems file also got updated, for default the howler's speed is 0.8 and flashlight works for a few seconds but I might increase the time tho

That's my main problem with the howler, luck-based, when i played NIGHTMARE for the first time i played on hard rain, when i called the elevator i was the only onme that survived and coming down the howler was ringht in front of the elevator door, i couldnt do anything abt it and restarted the whole chapter

@CBOLλ The howler can be killed by fire so It's not unkillable and I already took precautions, the howler has the lowest spawn rate in the whole collection + it'll never spawn during finales to avoid softlocking, so the howler is basically luck based. Also, I'm trying to implement a new mechanic (also luck-based) where the howler will be more easy to deal with, but you can still change the settings and set howler chance lower than 16% if necessary.

@Alxniw, with all honesty, i think the Howler is annoying, the ideia is cool but many moment he can softlock u yk? kinda unfun to play agaisnt sometimes, i would rather play with the Howler if he was killable or stunnable
