Go into your "..\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop\" folder and open this mod's VPK file (3577418367.vpk) with GCFScape [nemstools.github.io]. You'll find an extra VPK file in there, along with addoninfo.txt, addonimage.jpg, etc. You can drag that extra VPK file to your "addons" folder and use it locally.
I prefer to keep them both together like this to avoid cluttering up people's workshop subscription lists, as the game would take longer to check for addon updates.
I made a full voice-over for Bill :)
Check it out! https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3453754982
Also, If anyone has tips how to get my mod out there without posting links, I would love to know! Trying to spread the fun (it took quite some effort)
peak spook
- Peanut Gallery, Kiddy Land, Giant Slide (c2m2);
- Screaming Oak Rollercoaster (c2m3);
- Mustachio Strength, Stache Whacker (c2m4).
Maps c2m2 and c2m4 in particular have 3 and 2 locations the music can be emitted from, which the game will choose at random. Or at least that's what it should do in theory, otherwise I may have failed to take Valve's jank code into account and will have to compensate for it again.
I raised the recorded volume on the video for demonstration purposes so people won't have to max out the volume slider. The mod is also set to a soundlevel of 100dB so that it can be heard from a good distance without being loud. I decided against having the music play globally because the maps are large and I imagine it would get old rather quickly. Sound mods with their own cache files won't work sometimes for whatever reason (probably lack of RAM for the game to load them into).
i tried just the mod itself with no alterations and it wasn't playing anything at all on c2m2, on either of the two places, that's what i find bizarre
