Moding is only made possible thanks to fair use, and the fact that content creators can borrow, modify, and distribute assets created by game developers. For a moder to try and curtail other moders from referencing their assets not only hurts the community, but it's a complete contradiction of what moding is all about.
If someone steals a mod, repackages in its entirety, and tries to pass it on as their own, that's absolutely not cool. But that's not what's happening here. I give full credit to the original author, set their mod as a hard requirement, and make transformative changes to some assets which is permissible under fair use.
Apparently, ShallowIris has much influence in this fandom.
on a side note, could you add your other mods somewhere on this page? since your page is private i cant see em. it would also be cool to see your nexus for skyrim mods.
I was far more active in the Skyrim community and such a thing as doing DMCA is almost unheard off. Mods are generally treated as open source and people make patches freely to make huge mod load orders possible thanks to mod conflicts getting patched.
I also noticed that the DD Discords are very intolerant and quick to ban with little or no notice, which is also very odd to me compared to Skyrim or XCOM 2 modding communities which are very open and laid back.
Let's take a pause and understand that we take the Intellectual Property of a company and make our fan-made contributions under the protection of fair use. To DMCA a fellow modder, no matter how much you dislike him/her, betrays the very principles that make modding possible.
I'm following Steam's DMCA strike notice appeal process. I think that's the proper course of action.
There's a clique of modders from Discord working hard to try to curtail my work and try to DMCA whatever I put out that they can get away with.
They already DMCA the Somber HBM and Somber HLM. The only reason that they haven't DMCA this one is that Koala had already agreed and he's sticking with his word.
But no worries, I'm pushing back on the DMCA abuse, the process takes 10+ days. If I succeed and they are reinstated, a lot of classes that need reworks will get it.
I tested it locally and it should not be flipped.
(I'm starting to see why Dragonbones and the converter are unreliable and the need to switch to Spine asap)
@ervin.patague Thanks for the bug report
