With simple XML editing you can also increase the chances of blight incidents, tho i don't think i'd ever add any custom incident through this mod.
Suggestion, add bugs like pill bugs, crickets, locusts and grubs for famines not in the winter but due to a dust bowl or a locust swarm devastating crops! this idea is amazing!

Couldn't find any information on wood dust eating, but there are some cultures where the inner parts of the bark are still a part of their daily/seasonal nutrition.
