@John you have an outside mod conflict or need to verify game files. The ability is from an ability hook called "PigeonFly" that is specifically written into the animal's defs. If muffalo are using it, it's either a major game error (since nothing vanilla would ever call that ability without there being something majorly broken) or somehow their def got patched to add that ability (in which case that's outside influence, not my mod).

Loaded this mod up, it seems like muffalo can be trained in sending messages now? Probably not the intended behavior

Since I have no idea how to do configs or whatever kind of code magic would make that work, no that won't be happening.

Working messenger pigeons - check em out. Let me know if you have any issues. I had an error pop during testing when sending a 2nd pigeon out while a 1st was still on a delivery but could never duplicate it to try and get it handled. Let me know if you have any issues.

Yea, that sounds fine actually, a comms console pre 'tech unlocked'. MOverhaul has this you say? But really I just love the history of human pigeon relations, and a return of it gives sci-fi as if our time is not the end of things.

@Krake afaik there is no way to make the animal fly off, then return, or to act as a communication device. Theoretically I could do something like what they did in Medieval Overhaul, and have a bench that is the 'pigeon coop' or whatever, and you communicate through it like a comms console.

Diplomacy and pigeon penpals might be too far, but in my moddreams I recruit for my ideo with a flock of birds and get swamped by pilgrims.

Calls are accurate, per species, sourced from places online. My bird provided the voice only for the Conures mod. :)

I wanted to do white doves as alt graphics on some species, but the game does not support alt graphics with the new flying animations.

I had toyed with the idea of trying to commission someone to make the code that would allow pigeons to eat filth in addition to plant matter, but decided against it for now.

Finally, the army of pidge, it would be extremely realistic if pidgeons could eat waste trash bags like the sky rats that they are, 1 trashbag = 1 fertilised egg, I swear these birds are made out of trash and doesnt take a lot for them to spread all over the globe, soon the galaxy.
