I too would appreciate it if in the description you specified if these edicts are player only or if the AI has access to them as well.

I could prob look at scaling yields and upkeep with empire size on a diminishing increase the higher you go so it doesn't become overpowered.

@Inigma, I'm fine however you wish to 'break it'. As this is 'abstraction', I'd go with three settings with dummy lines to add more if needed. "low/medium/high'....however the numbers break down.

One thing I've noticed that as time passes, and the empire grows, the bonuses are 'static', not scaling. Not sure how that would impact mid/late game, but it is something to be aware of.
Scale too much and its a 'gimme-box', too little and it could turn into 'meh' rather than, 'i love this mod'. :steamhappy:

Just options ranging between 1 and 5 Influence multiplier. The other things are well balanced so I think that should be good.

@Gake, yeah that is my thought exactly on the build requirements. I usually shrug and just go with the 'mechanics', but in this case, this mod made way more sense to me as at least a stopgap to using influence over unity. :steamhappy:

Yeah I can see how habs get annoying when it comes to influence, frankly, habs shouldn't cost influence imo. Influence is about power projection, not interior politics, but it should cost Unity though! But yeah, depending on what other mods you have how much Influence you should able to get would differ wildly. I'm playing on a modded game where I'm trying to prevent the map from being gobbled up as much as possible while also retaining some ability to be able to expand more quickly at high costs, but I can see a mod list that would require a lot more Influence.

ty @Gake. I'm 'biased' as I'm playing 'void dweller' and influence when building orbital habs gets annoyingly scarce, fast. Heh. BUT, I can see your side for different origins. :steamhappy:

DaViper's idea is a good one, it would be best to be able to define the Influence rate on a per player basis.

The Trade and Unity are fine because they're roughly equal in value to each other. I'd say the upfront Influence costs shouldn't be divided, but the yields and upkeep should.

I'll sort of disagree with the prior comment. I've found that it makes the game 'I want' flow better. That said, it might be useful to allow a dialog to choose a setting/slider?:steamthumbsup:

@Gake that is what I was looking for, balance suggestions! Thank you! So do you suggest dividing the influence return by 5 (or I can increase the cost by 5)? Are the returns for unity, or trade also balanced or do they need tuning? If so, by how much?

The influence gained through this mod is a tad strong. The "trade" value of Influence is a lot higher than this mod makes it out to be so you dominate pretty easily by exploiting this mod, at the current level I'd characterize this mod as a "cheat" mod.

If you divide the influence values by 5 throughout the mod it's a lot closer to vanilla friendly balancing. I got this in tandem with "Expensive Expansion" hoping it'd be a nice little tiny boost for when I need it and just completely invalidated the whole premise of the other mod in slowing expansion rates. I get that base-game Influence is painfully slow, but this is... WAY too fast.

I found a bug with this mod:
The unity edicts don't seem to be using the available Edicts Fund, at least in the case of the "Propaganda Projects". That edict puts me to 73 out of 85 of my Edicts Fund, so I shouldn't be consuming any Unity from Edicts. Yet my Unity display from the top bar of the window is showing that I'm consuming exactly that edict's upkeep per month from edicts.

I LOVE this community. I was wondering recently about anything more 'involved' regarding trade...and viola! here is a mod that exceeded my original pondering.
This was loaded mid-campaign with 4.0.23 and shows up in edicts just fine.

When I try to translate this mod to Korean I found a strange sentence.

"By expending our political §HInfluence§! to craft the narrative, we can increase §HTrade§! opportunities for our people since the public won't really know how bad things are since we all know things are going very well indeed."

Using a phrase that starts with "since" twice in a row looks a bit strange. What did you intend to express by this sentence?

@FollowTheBlu gestalts dont get these. There isn't much motivation needed in such empires. Not to say we can't come up with some. If you have ideas, I might implement.

@MeniliteZ Oligarchy... hmm. I hadn't thought of what they would excel beyond the standard mod edicts available to them. Maybe being oligarchy is too inefficient to get Authoritarian level rewards, and too undemocratic to get Democratic level rewards. If you have ideas, let me know though.
