-Burdigala - 20 units
-Nemossos - 19
-Vienna (not a capital) - 14
- the list goes on..
This is fine, the issue is that none of my (Roman) cities have half this level of garrison.
In Narbonensis, for example:
-Tolosa - 6 units
-Narbo - 1 (3 naval)
Segodunum - 2
-Divona - 0
I have to maintain so many armies to cover my back because there are effectively no garrisons in any of my cities outside of Italy (Genua has 5, Medhlan has 8). The cost of maintaining armies doesn't allow you to maintain small provincial armies to cover your back.
Is this intentional?
1 other thing, I find that my legionaries only use their pila at the very last second, so they have half of them left by the time the enemy makes contact. They used to toss them as soon as the enemy entered range.
Not a bug, we added more female units.
They don't have only female units but sometimes they only hire the woman units.
We will be improving their composition in the next version of Part 2.
Good find! Will be fixed in next patch!
Thanks
That works with any Total War Rome 2 mods that are big enough that could cause increased loading times.
For smaller mods (50 MB or less) it is not really necessary.
does this advice work with any TW mod ? other modders content and other TW Games?
Is your Rome 2 in english? Other languages are not supported yet.
@Heracles
Glad you are having fun with your Rome campaign!
Yes, politics are a lot more fun and logical now
@valmont I wasnt able to get my spartan units to heal no matter what I did, but I didn't go past turn 5 so I can't say forsure it wasn't a temporary effect. Enjoying the rome playthrough alot, First playthrough I provoked the other political parties in attempt to be the sole party, forgot the minimum parties for rome is 3 it seems. This time around I am maintaining influence like you said and made a big difference. Plus we reloaded the save like 3 times until the parties had good traits lol
We fixed that a couple patches ago, could you be playing on an older version of the mod? Did you move the .pack files to your Data folder?
Many things can modify an Army's Replenishment.
1) Food on that province
2) Enemy Agents' actions
3) Your treasury money
4) Your general's Traits, Skills, Ancillaries, Followers and Households
5) Diseases
6) Seasons
7) Buildings
8) Your army's stance
9) Even more stuff.
If you move your army back to Sparta they get a full replenishment rate?
Hard for both campaign and battles.
In Hearts & Minds the Successions work differently compared to vanilla:
1) You maintain Loyalty mainly by keeping all parties' influences balanced.
If your party gets too powerful (influential) then you will cause a loyalty decrease in the others and vice versa.
You can use the political intrigues to give your party or other parties more influence to keep the balance.
It is great to hear that your sync issues got resolved.
If you ever encounter a sync coop issue again please play a coop campaign with just part 1 enabled to see if the issue persists. We are trying to determine if the sync issues could be related to part 1 or part 2.
Since we just redid Part 1 from the ground up we believe it could be part 2 related.
Idk what changed but we decided to try it again. I loaded up the save that desync'd. It was Hail Mary because honestly we weren't gonna play normal vanilla again. and... It worked. Idk how but we are having a blast turn 40ish Rome and Carthage now. We both have it downloaded through steam workshop. Same language, I really think it may have been an RNG event or something? Happened in 3 different saves?!?!? Weird bug, Great mod. Really struggling with successions though lol. Probably on me I suck with politics
Are you playing with just Part 1 + Part 2 enabled or other mods as well?
Amazing and detailed report Heracles
When playing coop, do you both play with the same language and also have you both moved your mod files to the Data folder or are you both playing from the workshop folder (standard)?
Thank you for your kind words.
We are currently focused on polishing and finishing the first milestones we had originally intended for Hearts and Minds Part 1 but after that we have even bigger plans that would certainly require all the help we can get.
I will inform you of any updates on how that support can materialize in the future.
We are very close to our goals for both Part 1 and Part 2. Once that is done and the bugs are fixed we will move to translations. Roughly a couple of months.
You can set your game to english for now if you want to play the mod.
PS: It is worth it and your english is very good anyway
I believe the issue is that Garrison units are tied to building level and not tech.
Rome does prioritizes military research compared to other factions thou.
You need to use new methods for taking capitals now.
1) Starve them with raiding armies and agents or bring their public order down by looting the smaller towns in that province. You cannot rush or autoresolve most sieges now.
2) It is smarter to take out the enemy faction's armies first before committing to a siege now. Then you can just wait for the garrison to come out of the walls (force them). Legionaries are not that strong unless your army has low tier units.
I'm at turn 30 as Carthage, and Rome has post-Marian Reform garrisons. This is pretty rough, because together with your garrison buffs, that means that a province capital under their control has 15 units of Legionaries (plus 4 Velites) as a garrison! I'm not sure the AI has actually researched the Cohort Organization tech, though, because their actual armies are still full of Hastati. Maybe the AI is beelining that tech and then not upgrading its armies?
I wasn't playing in English and I thought firstly that it should display or some default text anyway but yeah strings are missing completely.
If you need help with translations, there are some platforms for community contributions. I can try to translate some to Polish if needed.
I am glad you are enjoying the mod!
That is probably a bug. You could get a very low upkeep if you use the Naval Conscription Edict or have a General with maxed stats and skills but not just because.
I will look into it asap.
Thank you
Firstly thank you very much for putting this mod together, it's exactly what I was looking for (Vanilla+ with some options rebalanced and no bloat).
I'm playing Hannibal at the Gates as Carthage and noticed that ship upkeep is very low, around 13g per turn for all ships!
Is that a bug or a feature?
Understood. Unlocking the diplomatic confederation option for all factions with the "same blood" modifier would be extremely cool - I've always hated that you can't integrate Nova Carthago when playing as Carthage in RTW2.
Nothing else that is announced in our features is disabled. We haven't changed the confederation options for the player but we did changed it for the Ai so it uses it more often.
In our features list there is "Added more options for taking settlements" which might be confusing you but that is not about diplomacy.
But with your remark you did give me an idea for what to expand in future versions.
Great. Is there anything else that's disabled at present? I ask because I'm playing as Carthage and despite having the "same blood" icon in diplomacy (tooltip says confederation is possible), there is no confederation diplomatic option available.
Thanks for the heads up, completely forgot about updating the description. Done.
Keep the suggestions coming ;)
Otherwise, great mod!
We are planning on several translations including spanish but we are in the process of consolidating a team in order to do that.
* Full rewrite, balance pass and UI fixes for the Edicts system. (Thanks PhæntomFly_ßr2 for the feedback)
We just released a big update which should fix most if not all the missing texts.
Please update your Data folder with our latest release and confirm if the fix indeed works as intended ;)
Yes, we had no choice since Empire Divided's Startpos had many missing family Tree members, generals, agents and also had issues with our other features such as change your capital, dynamic Garrisons and Wonders of the World.
If the Empire Divided Startpos gets updated and fixed we will include it again.
We still have many features from ED thou like Seasons effects, 4 turns per year etc.
