If this would have been on engie it would be "fine" but on soldier it doesn't really fit this. He looks more like Robotnik tbh. Dont know if it's pop culture a reference but if it is I'm too tired to see pop cultures on my face.

Other than that, both pieces feel solid af, if not simply missing a lab coat

All jokes aside, this is a really solid cosmetic. My only suggested change is what others have said: Make a goggle-less style.

Erm actually, Soldier had the same outfit in 3rd tf2 comic, page 24. So, it makes this set canonically fit the soldier.

Plus: he could be that one crazy minion, that does all hard work for real professor. Which is quite fitting for Soldier, that always on front and doing some crazy stuff like rocket jumps, while Engi/Med is sitting behind.

As purely science cosmetic: Yes. As MAD doctor one: that's interesting uncharted prospect of creativity. I'm sure Jane thought of himself like that, when he teleported bread for 3 days straight.
