That's usually fine in flat screen games (although noticeable if you look closely), but in VR, you can interact much more with objects, which means that simplified collisions (e.g. no holes where there are some on the visible model) mean that immersion breaks and you e.g. can't stick your gun through a metal grate to shoot at an enemy behind it.
