Yes, Zeq, I did make a couple of square previews myself, but back then it was kinda novel. These days hardly anyone seems to use Valve's standard 16:9 preview ratio from their own tools. So I would gladly accept the square as the one true standard.

The point you missed: The change was gradual after people found out that Crowbar could upload square images with ease, thus allowing them to use the entire square that the web pages show.

The devs taking their time thing, well, the devs and/or publishers kind of abandoned ship after delivering a bunch of updates, until is was picked up by the current update team. Those jokes about the TF2 janitor managing the updates? Perfectly true here, as the update team is left with almost no real dev tools to work with, yet managed to compress a lot of files and do plenty of optimization and quality of life improvements.

The Luger model itself is said to come from the actual LGL cutting room floor, and its animations come from another unfinished weapon - the integrally suppressed HDM pistol. The poor folks at the M.U.G. team can't even make new animations and have to resort to hacked together existing assets. Despite that, the game today is much better than it was after LGL effecively abandoned it. Raid WW2 is a passion project, a game too funny for its fans to let die.

Well, I am uploading a fix for the normal maps because of course they are inverted, and also the animation fading thing, it works weird on decompiled animations with IKs. So in case someone finds some glitches, feel free to report. This model is kinda weird.

besides the lack of a custom weapon sound and... concerning file size, its a pretty good port overall
