May I suggest making a whole series of lockers, messed up or whatever, but all different with a footprint of .5m square, or .75m x.5m, and so on; allowing for mixing and matching for variations along any wall.
An alternate height could come in handy, too...I frequently find I really could use a 2.25m, or even a 2m tall object when I've had to modify floors or ceilings...
Just some, hopefully helpful ideas.
