The driving rams are close range EDC's built into the spikes on the ballast tanks. They don’t extend beyond the hull and are meant to disable targets on contact. The engines thruster (also in the rams) acts as a cleanup system, shredding any bodies that get pulled in.

It is bot friendly, though very rarely they might get stuck on the top moonpools. If you grab them for a moment and walk to the side they will jump off the platform and go back to work. Happened like 3 times in the campaign before upload.
