V It crashes if she rapidly gets restartled after a survivor to another, otherwise it works fine.

I noticed this script updated when I was checking my workshop folder, so thought I'd comment how I haven't had any crashing issues since I installed it (around three weeks now) and have played quite a few games with it, even with countless other vscripts/sourcemod plugins/100 tick running at the same time. Great stuff!

Fantastic work on this! A lot of plugins/scripts that try to accomplish witch retargeting like this tend to be quite jank by utilizing methods like respawning the witch to reset her AI or using fire/bile to change targets, but you didn't go this route and did the hard work to make this work great. Amazing job!

@Interneted Can I simply put "cl_preload 1" into me autoexec,cfg file so the game does it automatically? I'm just asking because I' don't know if there'll be any negative side effects.

Fun fact, this was actually planned by the official developers in L4D1 as said in the L4D1 Developer Commentary, but it would make the Witch overpowered than the Tank. So they did the usual Witch we know today.

Just found this out when playing the Developer Commentary.

Well, in part, I can rest easy knowing that the only mod I have, other than the "NIGHTMARE" mod, isn't a problem for me.
Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on your mod and waiting for the final version without any problems.

1. I am not sure about that, but since it is only a sound add-on, you'll mostly be fine, the problem mostly lies on the vscripts.

2. I actually tested the add-ons mentioned by @yoru a long time ago prior to this release, and I never encountered any crash after like 10 playthroughs, keep it mind that I tested my scripts completely modless and default settings, as well as my own style (my game is mostly vanilla anyways, other than low end settings), so the scripts on modpack are the red flags, I doubt that he runs his game in vanilla.

I can't think of anything else other than just finding the add-on culprit as I checked this script regularly.

I don't know if you're referring to my comment, but I have two questions:
1. Regarding the "NIGHTMARE" mod, I only have one called "NIGHTMARE Common Infected Sounds (REUPLOAD)", and this is the only mod related to the NIGHTMARE mod that I have, so I ask:
Do you think I'll have any problems if I have that mod on my L4D2?

2. There was a comment early on when you posted your mod from someone called @yoru, and this person said there's a problem when changing survivor skins with other skins (even if the cl_forcepreload command is enabled, the game crashes). This person based his comment on the fact that he uses skins he's never had problems with, and when he deactivates them, he no longer has problems. (But that doesn't mean that you've been using skins for a while and they're the problem, even though you didn't have them before.)
To which I ask: Do you know how to solve this?

Kind of a late reply but I most likely found the particular problem with the crash judging by the comments, I don't think I can find anything related to the crash anymore, other than c++ source code of the vscript functions.

However if you are running a server with heavy scripts, such as the nightmare mod pack, then you'll be prone to it.
It's a great mod, but I'll wait until it's not in beta.
It's better to be safe than sorry if the game crashes or malfunctions (and I don't mean that in a bad way).
If you're playing the game and you're halfway through the game, after having made progress and worked hard, the game crashes, well... I'll pass on that.
But I'll keep an eye on this mod.

Witch in Realism + long idle delay mod (just to curb molotov idle exploiters) would be way more dangerous than anything else in the game

Hang on. I remember reading somewhere that during beta, the witch acted like this but to make it fair, she only attacked the player that startled her and will run off once the player's dead iirc.

custom survivor models are also likely the cause for crashing, been play testing this with oxxys outdated 07 trs survs and it never crashed once. replaced them with the new updated 07 or 08 survs and now the game blows every single time, regardless of cl_forcepreload

But what I meant is that in some sourcemod plugins I discovered, they use a special function that biles and ignites the witch with a specified attacker, and that's how the plugin works, the problem with these methods is that it messes the scoreboard result, witch's sequences and hitboxes.

But mine is different, all I did is use a bot commanding function.

Anyways, noone experiencing any crashes so far? Guess I found the culprit.

It's when you go AFK while bilejar is in the midair. Because the game can't "find" the player who throwed the bile. As the game try to register the bile to an "invalid" player. Which is a player that's taken over by a bot. This is how Idle-molotov also works on Witches (and Tanks too, as long you remain in AFK).
