Also, I did shoot in the prison's hallways, approximately 60-90 rounds, give or take. Three mags from the AR-15, that is, that caused the loss of hearing.

That's not a sentence I ever thought I'd write.
The earpro I wear IRL gives you super human hearing, and disables the mic and speakers when the dBs get high enough. It's great. One night, when I was wrapping up a dusk shoot at the shotgun range, I was the last person there, but I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around, and about 100 yards out in the desert there was a coyote prowling for rabbits. I had accidentally turned the gain up to max on the earpro.
I didn't know about active hearing protection until 2019, so not sure if they existed back in '93. If they did, they'd make an amazing addition to the game.
