The main issue with new abilties is the button mapping. The keepers have very limited possible actions.
The grinder has no cooldown. You can place it again after feeding it enough resources.
My main suggestion would be to pair the vertical mining with another unique mechanic for horizontal mining. Maybe you could have an ability on a short cooldown where you press a button to charge horizontally, damaging several blocks in a straight line based on distance travelled. This could be upgraded to increase damage and number of blocks hit, or upwards charging to make clearing space above you easier.
Also, is the portable grinder bugged? After placing it the cooldown seems to get stuck half way, and you can't place another.
I'll try to fix the drop meter issue in the next few days
Also, the drop meter isn't working. I buy it, and it doesn't show up, so I'm estimating my drop strengths by ear
