Oh man this is exactly the kind of mod I've always wanted for 4X games! I really hope something like this eventually gets made for some others (Civ games, the Warhammer Gladius game, etc). Do you think it would be difficult to transfer it over to other games? I'm trying to get into modding but I have no idea where to even start lol

Matopicus great mod. The issue i'm having is every time i reload a game, the units i've named have an auto-generated name replacing them. Is there a way to keep the "renamed" units constant through a saved reload?

@sepruecom The removing all the action buttons bug can be fixed by doing the whole: loading all the mods, going back to main menu and then loading all the mods again.

guess I have to take my previous comment back. For some weird reason, every time I load a game I have to change the modding config in order to get all the GUI elements displayed. So it was "somewhat" random that removing your mod helped...

unfortunaltely it appears this mod removes all the action buttons of units. No starting excavations, satelites, etc...

I'd like it if we could have "1st Company, 1st Batallion... 2nd Company, 1st Battallion... 1st Company, 2nd Batallion"... In other words, companies are numbered only within their battalion.

This is great but in the late game the company number suffixes are incorrect, for example "13st" instead of "13th"

rfmacros, that's just a problem with the game outright. While I doubt it was intentional, this game is not all that friendly when it comes to mods. It requires you to launch the mods (not the game session outright), exit and relaunch with the mods you want for the game session to properly work. It's irritating, but the fix is very simple.

Ok, update here. I seem to be having an issue with ALL mods, where I have to enable, disable and then enable them again before each game. This has NOTHING to do with your specific mod and I look forward to using it in the future :)

@AlphaBravo For whatever reason a few people (very few) have had issues with steam flipping the libraries to not be included in the config file. Read this and see if it helps resolve your problem.

Oh yeah and i tried using it with and without rising tide, didnt work(((. I'm suspecting that it might be that the whole game is in russian (coz i downloaded it from russian steam... obviously) and in order for the mod to work I need to switch it to English, i'l look into that

Thanks for your response. Tried unsubscribing and subscribing again, tried deleting and reinstaling the whole game - didnt work. Don't use any additional mods (cause this one, in my opinion, is the most needed improvement in the game). As you pointed out, the fix which i used (and which didnt work), was a fix a found browsing a different mod. It was to convert your Windows user name to UTF, because if it is written with non-English alphabet (i.e. Russian) the system fails to convert it to "the language it understands" (i assume its UTF) properly and therefore the wholle think doesnt work.

@rfmacros I have Rising Tide and it works fine for me. Your the first one since the game came out to say it wasn't working with it.

@AlphaBravo "because its not in English" Not sure where you got that from but its in english. You might be looking ata different mod. As to why it doesn't work for you on your computer, sometimes steam doesn't play nice. Try unsuibscribing restart steam and re-subscribe. You've already tried it on two computers and it worked on the second one but not yours. It could be a conflict with another mod or something with steam.

Also does not work with RT, just like Leonard Nemoy quotes. Maybe they conflict with one of my other mods?

Just wanted to say thanks for making this mod. I've been using it for some time now. Without it, I really struggle to enjoy playing BE, I have a thing about being able to name my units. This mod adds so much to the roleplaying aspect, which this game sorely needs. Keep up the awesome work!

I plan on making it work with the expansion.
regarding the specialization i planned on it but life had other things for me to do. When the exansion comes out i'll revisit and see how much time i have then to add new features.

@evilknight23 I can't. I tried and the only way of doing it is a long painful process that is prone to inconsistent bugs. For whatever reason firaxis thought it was a good idea in Civ5 to get new unit ids when you upgrade your units. With ids changing and no hooks into the process you can't keep records of even names of units once there updated.

The option to Rename things your self would be cool I love this mod the way it is just a suggestion for later modding also i get kills with them and they dont show all my units say 0 kills no matter how many kills they get unless its only vs military units cause they killed aliens so idk if that is different but the mod is cool thank you
