skulls are in textures with rocks

if a mod were to only affect tinted rocks, but not skulls, (IE, turning tinted rocks into question mark blocks), would that be why then?
I would have assumed if the files are separate, even if the overarching thing being modified (Maps/whatever), the textures could correlate, but maybe I'm wrong. I've tried this, less bad, and the audio one, and I just haven't been able to get them working yet but I haven't tried what I speculated above yet

doesnt seem to work on repentance unless this conflicts with other mods for some reason
