External Item Descriptions make the item descriptions "external," meaning that the item's effect appears to the side of the item in paragraph form. This mod changes the lil' text thing that appears when you pick up an item. Completely separate mods, but similar philosophy.

When this mod was first mentioned to me I just thought "oh its gonna just replace the items.xml and pocketitems.xml entries for new text and not be compatible with a lot of mods but then I saw mod compatibility and rgon only and I'm like "hell yeah"

Looks pretty cool! I personally prefer the more cryptic nature of the default blurbs, but this is still pretty neat!

I wonder if it'd be theoretically be possible to display these blurbs *beneath* the regular description.
A refresher DOES help, and im glad this is less immersion-breaking than E.I.D., but i don't want it overriding the flavor.

To do this mod without REPENTOGON would require changing the descriptions of the base game in its entirety. Doing it this way would mean any single mod that also changes this single file, to any degree (even one line change) would suddenly make the entire game broken/error-full. While it would be technically possible, it would be so far beyond any form of ideal that it's 100% the way to go to just make it require REPENTOGON.

this is cool, but i feel like these have a lot less personality, which is fine, since they're supposed to be helpful, but, like, man. still, good job on this, it probably took a lot of work.

Also uh ferpe its just i cant get the mod because when i go on rep it doesnt save any of my progress so i cant get repentogon.

I actually had this exact idea for a mod that I never bothered to act on, but you guys beat me to the punch! So glad this mod exist!

it isn't mentioned anywhere but this is inspired by Legend of Bum-bo's item descriptions being super concise and short

i like this as a vanilla-esque alternative to external item descriptions, well done!

A non-REPENTOGON version is unfortunately impossible as it stands. If I could have, I likely would have for convenience of the people, but this is the method that allows the broadest possible mod compatibility and quality. It will get updated for rep+ when REPENTOGON updates, though.

every mod should require REPENTOGON......

It genuinely isn't that hard of a process, and it allows some really cool mods and just basic quality of life features. I promise you it's worth your time if have even 10-15 minutes, if not less.
