I figured it out
I have used the dev mode to remove the fog of war on a rimcities city
SO I cut off the book generation step and it was empty when Ireched it. The books seems to generate on proper discovery, not on fog of war removal. Thanks for the quick answer anyway

Can't help you there. You have a mod conflict of some sort
Wrath 8. okt. kl. 10:24
Hello, I have a problem, it's not really a bug involving a log so I can't priovide but ;
I have started a new playthrough, and now, all the books are only called by their quality "normal"
There is no title, no buff, no description, they are basically all empty and dead items. I have not added or removed any mods relative to book usage so im kinda lost. It was all working fine before. Any idea what it could be and how to fix it ? Books are really awesome in rimworld and so is your mod! I can't play without it

Thanks in advance

The matter is Steam doesn't update mods
[Br] Nasid 6. okt. kl. 12:45
now I tried again and everything works as it should, before that the pawns just threw books, I don't know what's the matter.
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 6. okt. kl. 8:48
That'd make no sense unless you are a scientologist
[Br] Nasid 6. okt. kl. 8:05
PSYCHOLOGY BOOK - nothing happens when reading this book
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 1. okt. kl. 13:57
Dev spawn a durathread techniques book. Make a pawn read it. If a message pops up on the upper corner, your mod is updated
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 13:39
hmmm. after the update, the situation is as follows:
-pawns will keep reading when set to recreation OR everything (tested on 81% recreation)
-when set to worktime but having no job to do, pawns are still dropping the book / quitting the reading-job (tested on 59% recreation)

i've also un- & resubbed to the mod and gone back to the main menu, but didn't quit the game back to desktop in the meantime.
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 12:07
wow you were fast! o0 :D

v2.03:

- Decoupled the book reading system from base game's, so books from this mod don't need the reader to be set from recreation. Forcing a colonist to read a book will now work regardless of their work assignments.
- Stainless steel is now vacuum proof
- When reading a folder of durathread techniques, a treatise of stainless steel or a midas tome, a message will pop up on screen informing the player of the effects
- Toned down the duration of the Midas tome's effects (except legendary, because it is, wait for it... well, you know)
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 2:18
yo that'd be great^^
tho, shouldn't Chill The Fork Out alrdy do so, at least...?
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 1. okt. kl. 2:11
I'm going to try to change that, as it is dumb
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 2:03
thanks for the quick response! ;)
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 2:02
ok recreation time fixed it lol
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 2:01
they're set to "everything"

as i said, it worked for 5 ingame years, up until this beautiful wednesday morning
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 1. okt. kl. 2:00
Are they set to recreation?
Balthazad 1. okt. kl. 1:57
5 years into the colony my pawns suddenly refuse to read.
even if my main researcher has nothing else to do and is just wandering around in boredom, if i send her to read a book for waterwheels or deepdrills or work clothing, she'll pick up the book and sit down with it just to drop it.
same with midas tomes and romans.

my modlist hasn't changed and there's nothing happening in the log.
Fishy the Medic 24. sep. kl. 22:32
I like collecting books in the game. Do you get to keep the book after it's used or does it just vanish?
Schadenfreude 23. sep. kl. 1:22
@Shiruba
Recreation
Egamerx 20. sep. kl. 19:41
are all books took so long to read ? or is it depend on the quality
Barsik_The_CaT 18. sep. kl. 8:33
Hello. There's a minor nitpick regarding this mod and Odyssey - stainless steel doors are not airtight. Any chance you could change that?
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 17. sep. kl. 2:52
They take up space in ruined libraries
Shiruba 17. sep. kl. 2:44
So, what are ruined books for? I really don't get it.
Seth'cor 7. sep. kl. 0:27
wish there was a way to set up a schedual to make them read these, rather than always having to gight them to finish a book XD
Ahlmann 30. aug. kl. 9:59
Stainless steel isn't airtight, found out the hard way :p
Merculin 29. aug. kl. 14:28
how about making a monasstic faction, writing all these books and being the reason for abandoned libraries? Idk how hard that is but maybe, if you play with biotech and have a kid reaching the age of 9, u get the quest of sending your kid to them for 3 years and when it comes back its perfectly educated
i rly love this idea but idk how to make mods myself :I
Anker 24. aug. kl. 20:23
Looks like Civil Settlers do, at least. If you want any value out of these, you're gonna have to go caravanning- traveling trade caravans aren't interested; only settlements are.
Anker 24. aug. kl. 20:20
Does *anyone* buy ruined books, or does the higher price on excellent and legendary ones exist purely to bait players into inflating their wealth? I don't think I've ever seen a trader interested in them.
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 24. aug. kl. 11:51
That's to be expected
Perdak under attack 24. aug. kl. 11:50
When i make a copy of stainless steel object (bed for example) i couldn't build it, because i don't have stainless steel in warehouse
Chronos 21. aug. kl. 12:32
Wanted to come on here to mention how the midas touch book is overpowered, but then got raided by like 30 imperial deserters.. fair play!
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 20. aug. kl. 8:12
No, it isn't craftable
Nugut 20. aug. kl. 7:25
Where do you craft stainless steel i can't seem to find it on any crafting station? As the book mentioned you can also make it
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 19. aug. kl. 23:05
v2.02:

- Fixed stainless steel and durathread changing the health of items and builtings and making them unfixable
Luv N Hugz |UwU| 18. aug. kl. 17:18
So, can ONLY special books spawn in libraries? (No vanilla/dlc standard books).
snake 17. aug. kl. 14:40
idk if its a bug but forcing someone to read for example the durathread book, the reading takes so much time that the pawn usually gets up to fulfill his needs like eating, thirst from dbh etc, making it close to impossible to actually make the pawn finish the book. i pulled it off before after like 10 times but now i cant seem to make it at all xdd
ThatFatGuyML 17. aug. kl. 11:06
having the same issue with stainless steel being damaged at crreation and unable to be repaired
Tokey 16. aug. kl. 13:18
@Mercenary Have you figured out the mod conflict? I'm seeing the same thing without the star wars mods. Repairing works after reloading a save though.
ThatFatGuyML 10. aug. kl. 9:01
@mercenary funnily enough there was a reddit thread not long ago that showed Rimworld Mods were interacting weirdly with Kotor
JACK 7. aug. kl. 7:10
fwiw to you, had an idea for a book: "Ancient Lovin Manual" or something that functions similarly to durathread and stainless books, provides a permanent hediff that makes lovin more enjoyable for the partner (added moodlet). the implication being the reader has learned a technique etc from a karma sutra esque book
Irchrael 5. aug. kl. 14:06
There's a problem with stainless steel items/buildings - when created, they start with 91% health.
Mercenary 3. aug. kl. 16:13
Damn figures. I wonder if it is because of the SWTOR/KOTOR mods I downloaded as been having issues since then. Will have to try it in the next few days and see. Thanks for getting back to me
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 3. aug. kl. 14:59
Just you, yeah
Mercenary 3. aug. kl. 14:47
I don't know if I have a mod conflict somewhere but my pawns can't seem to repair anything made out of stainless steel. Can't even click for the option. Is this normal or just me?
Sarg Bjornson  [ophavsmand] 2. aug. kl. 9:22
Can't even look into it till the 15th
Vermillion Cardinal 2. aug. kl. 6:20
Seconding swag's observation: doors and autodoors made out of stainless steel are not airtight at all. I've resorted to using RIMMsqol to give the material an airtight tag for the time being.
Goose 27. juli kl. 13:26
I found a fix for the "not finishing the book glitch." Switch the colonist schedule to recreation only. He'll read through the whole thing. I think it has to do with the pawn stopping to do work instead of prioritizing the book.
DeadLeaves 27. juli kl. 11:21
For anyone who is running into the issue of books being put down after a bit rather than triggering. I don't what what causes it, but it seems to be a "needs" issue, where the pawn starts doing something else. I forced all needs to be satisfied, and the book triggered just fine.
burger soup 26. juli kl. 12:32
stainless steel doors arent airtight but the regular steel doors are
