Features

Alpha Books brings:

- 21 new types of books that are all single-use, and give a bonus to the reader. From useful hediffs, to abilities, to unlocking new map locations, there is variety enough to spice up any playthrough. They all have custom graphics, descriptions and mechanics.
- All books work like normal books regarding bookshelves, acting as quest rewards, etc, but colonists will NOT auto-read them.
- A new quest to raid ancient ruined libraries to acquire the new books.
- A new furniture building, the plinth, to display your favourite books and give x10 Beauty.
- Anomaly, Royalty, Ideology and VE Cooking add new books, for a total of 26.

FAQ

Q: Can I add it mid-playthrough to an existing save? Can I remove the mod?
A: You can add it whenever. You can't remove mods from a save and expect it not no be messed up.

Q: Does this need Biotech DLC, Alpha Animals / Biomes / etc
A: No

Q: Does this work with Combat Extended?
A: Compatibility with CE is handled on their end

Q: Will colonists auto-read these?
A: No, as they are all single use. Think of them as readable potions. Actually, don't, that sounds really stupid...

Q: Reeee this is bloat! I like my things that add things to add less things to the thing!!!
A: The thing wants things added to the thing. Sorry, out of my control.

Tynan's book mentions 'Regardless of passion' in a skill, but the amount of Exp you get in the skill is still effected by passion levels.

This mod is so funny. I have the event frequency set to minimum and they're still finding lost libraries and ancient archives every few days it seems like

I have a question; would it be possible to add compatibility to the Metal Don't Burn (There's a 1.6 version by Chris_) mod when it comes to Stainless Steel? Stainless Steel already doesn't burn, but the Metal Don't Burn mod increases Steel's durability, so having both it and Alpha Books installed means Stainless Steel has less durability than normal Steel.

I figured it out
I have used the dev mode to remove the fog of war on a rimcities city
SO I cut off the book generation step and it was empty when Ireched it. The books seems to generate on proper discovery, not on fog of war removal. Thanks for the quick answer anyway

Hello, I have a problem, it's not really a bug involving a log so I can't priovide but ;
I have started a new playthrough, and now, all the books are only called by their quality "normal"
There is no title, no buff, no description, they are basically all empty and dead items. I have not added or removed any mods relative to book usage so im kinda lost. It was all working fine before. Any idea what it could be and how to fix it ? Books are really awesome in rimworld and so is your mod! I can't play without it

The matter is Steam doesn't update mods
