(NOT WORKING) [B42] All Weapons Give Maintenance XP

So in the most recent update the files of the game have been changed so that all the weapons are defined in one big file, meaning I cannot simply alter them like before without overriding every single weapon in the game (which would be VERY bad).

Because of this for the time being the mod will be locked out of working on the latest version until I can find a work around. I cannot promise I'll be able to find one however so there's a chance I may have to take this mod down if I cannot get it to work at all.

@Tank5168 You can deactivate the mod from your saved game (not from the MODS menu), I have done it and while they update it I can continue playing normally.

The Mod became inactive with update 47.
I just had to unsubscribe and resubscribe and that solved my problem.

I was using a mod that could not be loaded when a patch was released and the mod author needed to update it https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3415025240&searchtext=automotive+patch

They have not updated it for 42.6.0 and right now it says debug only and I can't load it in debug. Maybe you can figure out how he did it.

@FishLord. Maybe you can set your mod to be only compatible with the current version of the game. That way if the game updates the mod isn't loaded.

I spent all morning isolating which of my couple hundred mods was crashing the game.
This was the first I could pinpoint. I don't really know how to read console.txt, but what I did see with only your mod enabled was "ERROR: mods isn't a valid workshop item ID"

I don't know if that's the only problem with the mod, but I hope that info helps.
I made sure to disable all mods, wipe the console.txt file, then deliberately start a new game with intent to instigate a crash so the log has only info relevant to this one crash.

Not sure how to share the file. I'm sure you can replicate it on your end, though.
I hope it's an easy fix, because this is a must-have mod!

@Xion yeah it is a really janky way of implementing it which breaks every single update but due to a bunch of weird reasons it is the only way I was able to get this to work

@Trilliam hmmm not really, I mean, it might be one of the reasons but the main reason (I believe) it's becuase B42.6.0 added more lines of code to some files, and this mod files don't have those lines of course, if the game doesn't find them, then it crashes.

Ok so I made it work, all I had to do is compare the files this mod overwrites with the original files, turns out what the mod does is delete "NoMaintenanceXP" tag from all the weapons that have it, most of them are one handed and stab weapons, so yeah it's a yanky way of doing it but since I'm not modder I don't know if there's a better way to do it.

as of today 24th Mar 2025 this mod is crashing the game-just an fyi so you can update it - a patch released today so thats the problem area of course. I like this mod so please fix it. Best wishes

Since 42.4 adds no maint xp warning to tooltip I'm going to try to play the game without and see if Indiestone has any logic and consistency to their method.

just an fyi for anyone who uses this. It will show up in build 41. do NOT enable it. you end up with a lot of tools bugging out to the point of save corrupting if you use said tools. dont be stupid. dont be me.

I guess it could be done with in lua, give the tags back to the weapons once a certain level is reached. Trouble is for some reason the tag just refuses to be changed unless the whole weapon file is completely overridden

Not that I know of, no. Whether a weapon gives maintenance XP or not is determined by a single tag, which I have overridden in this mod

is there an option or way to set a level to be capped at for leveling in this way? like how the tvs cap at 3 now for skills
