Batteries and UI have not gotten touched in 42.12, so it should work as normal. I currently don't have the option to actually check if thats true, but its highly unlikely that there are any issues.

My code is not touching anything about batteries themselves. I simply add a new "Action" that shows up on Batteries. So even if this is a conflict, i cannot solve it on my side of the mods.

it seems like if you let your battery reach 0, it eats the battery and we can't take the battery out of the torch or find it in our inventory. not sure if it's a conflict or something aswell. we use noir's attachments to attach them to our backpacks

Yep, thats a planned feature for when the Stable version of B42 releases. Right now the mod is on hiatus until that happens.

Glad to see this idea as a mod as I was looking for a way to recharge batteries :)
Maybe a stationary, generator-powered version would be nice too!

Sure, i will add that to the roadmap for when B42 Stable releases. I'll probably make it a opt-in feature in the Sandbox options, so you can choose between having all batteries rechargeable or only special ones.

it would be really great to have rechargable batteries as separate world spawn to make use of this, as opposed to every battery becoming chargeable.
we had chargeable batteries but we always saved them for special things back in the 90s in my family at least

Well, they technically existed alot earlier (i believe early accumulators where invented in like 1890 or so), but rechargeable batteries weren't widespread in households until the late 2000's and even then i believe the throwaway battery market was still way on top. So basically all the batteries you see in Zomboid, are very likely not rechargeable. Maybe i should add a function that just replaces all batteries in the game, with the exact same item but then say they are rechargeable :P

Please just read a few comments further below.
And if you want to talk about realism, then this entire mod is unrealistic, as we are dealing with 90's batteries which are in fact not rechargeable.

Good idea but kind of unrealistic if the power basically comes out of nowhere.

Would be nice if the battery charger needed to be connected to a car´s battery and drained a very little % of its power or if this new craftable battery charger were also rechargeable with the item "car battery charger".

The current build of the mod includes a "Battery Recharger" item, which is craftable.
Once crafted, you need it in your inventory, alongside used batteries. Rightclicking on the Battery will then give you the option to recharge them by hand.

There is currently no item in this mod that is placeable or needs some kind of power source. The power source is the player's arms currently.

Yes, i will probably have one placeable charger, that needs access to a power grid and charges batteries over a small period of time, and one portable hand-crank charger, that needs strength, alot more time and drains endurance/stamina. I just have no interest in making those changes right now, as i cant test how they hold up in multiplayer (since it doesnt exist yet)

Yeah, i am planning on making a second item that can be placed down on a power grid, along with a bunch of other neat changes. But i am waiting for B42 multiplayer before i do any of that, since alot of the api functions are kinda "placeholders" and i'd rather wait for the stable release before i have to redo the entire mod again.

Is there a way to make this item dependent on the availability of electricity? for more realistic. I tried to do it myself by analogy with charging for a car battery, but something didn't work out.

Okay, i should have gotten everything sorted now.
My mistake, i only fixed the "type" bug on the B42 version. Meaning it didnt register the Battery as you were playing the game on german.

Well thats the drastic approach. It could help if you can provide a logfile, but steam isnt all that great for something like a bug forum.
I can take a look into it if you could do the basic steps:
Start the game, get a battery and the recharger and rightclick the battery, close the game, look for the file "console.txt" in the folder C:\Users\(Your Name)\Zomboid and upload it to some site, like pastebin.

Yeah, the battery and charger were in my inventory. Also tried holding both in primary and secondary. Not sure how to find an mod compatibility issue in PZ. Turning a mod of one by one till it works?

Hm... Did you make sure that the battery is also in your Inventory?
If it still doesnt work then there might in fact be something broken (again), or there is some kind of mod compatibility issue.

Doesn't seem to work in MP (B41 Stable) =/ Installed it on my server, crafted the recharger and still no recharge option is shown in the context menu on a battery. Am I missing something ?

As said in my comment below - the idea was to refer to one of the ratcheting kinds of rechargers, the electricity for the battery has to come from somewhere after all!
But yes, i will add a requirement for the eletrical skill at some point. I'm just still trying to figure out how well i can implement it with the new crafting system. (It's incredibly poorly documented as of right now)

The recharger itself is infinite - there is no limit to the uses as of now, but its a planned feature at some point!

Both the Context Menu bug and the "uncharged on reload" bug should be fixed in the newest version.

I made a recharger, but it didnt works. When I checked the empty battery there was no option to charge it. No error was reported so I couldnt find out what was wrong:sleepyjill:

That might be a issue with how B42 has changed how energy works - it seems to be getting a full on rework, so all the functions are basically broken as of now. I will try to have another look at it, but no gurantees that i am able to fix it in the current patch.

Battery is not charged after restart of game. I've done this twice now. The same battery. Battery has 10% charge left in it. I charge the battery, shows 100%, so I quit the game gracefully. Start game, check battery. It's back to 10% charged. I am on PZ 42...

@quevedotron Sadly, i cannot check or fix such a error without any kind or Log or the Error message itself.
I also wanted to make the Recharger based on one of those "Twist-Based Rechargers" where you need to spin a little valve to generate electricity. I will probably add a option for Electronics requirements later on - but the Strength requirement is completely optional as is, you can simply turn it off in the Sandbox Settings.

I crafted the battery recharguer , but when I select a battery in my inventory doesnt appears the option to rechargue it, only a messague of error, I have level of streng 5 , ( Why is needed strength to insert a battery in a recharger tool?), maybe I have a mod incompatibility
